Wheels for 74 2002

I've seen people asking real money for bottlecaps.

Keep looking- there's a billion of them out there.

They should cost less than the tires for them.

When I bought my orange 73 tii, it had E30 bottlecaps on it.  I ended up trading them for a really nice (almost new) set of the later style 13x5 steel wheels from a 1975 big bumper car.  Those are the steel wheels I'm running on my 74 tii to this day.  The guy I traded the wheels with thought I was crazy at the time and that he was getting a real good deal.  Lots of people back then were dumping the steel wheels.

I have some ugly wheels on my 74 2002 that I want to swap out.  I saw bottlecap wheels with the following description on Ebay, does anyone know if they fit?  "4 x OEM BMW E30 14" Bottlecap Rims Wheels 4x100 84-91 318i 325e 325i 325ix"

Also, any recommendations on where to find wheels if not Ebay?  Thanks all

If your “ugly wheels” look like this (below), I’d be very interested in gettin’ some ugly…

My point? There are tastes for every wheel — okay, except for those Ronal teddy bear things… ?

There might even be someone willing to trade you e30 bottle caps for your ugly wheels. Perhaps a photo of your existing rims would allow us to tell you just how desperate your search should be!

Regards,

Steve

I don't get the bottlecap hate. It's a classic wheel. I do prefer the basketweaves but my fave BMW factory alloy wheel (read: cheap) that fits the 2002 is the e21 320i turbines. I found a clean set of 5 locally for I think $350.  My second fave stock wheels are those e30 steel wheels with the round cutouts.

Here are the turbines on my square tail

If you want some BottleCaps that are local. Check out this posting on Facebook. The guy is in Framingham MA, and is asking $150 for all 4. If the seller still has them, offer him $100 he doesn't even know what car they are from. LOL

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the e30 bottle cap wheels.  At least they have a proper offset and fit the '02 perfectly.  I prefer them over the various e21 wheels that have the et18 offset.  The e21 wheels might look cool, but with the et18 offset they stick out a bit too much for my taste.  Plus the e30 bottle caps are a 6x14" wheel which can be a plus if you like the wider 6" footprint...

Good point re: the offset. I didn't know that. And they look even better, IMO, when the background is painted black like on @Mike_R's car from the Bottlecap thread posted earlier. DSCN12723.thumb.jpg.1e68282a7a39f4327851

14' or 15" that would be my question, if 15" tires are easier to source, shoot for a 25et offset the higher 38 offset gives a smaller rim lip and is more of a Rabbit/Golf/Toyota fitment it works but looks "Less Aggressive"
