Getting ready to add a stereo system and eventually fog lights, I upgraded my alternator.  I took my original 35 amp unit to Alternators Unlimited in Berkeley and asked if he could build it up to a 65 amp unit.  He said he could but ended giving a me a little more juice by giving me an re-wound alternator out an E9.  I guess those alternators were designed not to have bushings.  Fits like a glove and gives me all the amps I need and then some!  I have a stock Alternator if anyone wants it for free :), oh and don't make fun of my blue hoses, I was desperate!

Good to have this datapoint, and would love to hear how you like it down the road.  Currently Zouave (‘74 tii) is running what I think is probably a rebuilt e12 alternator (also no bushings) with 80 amp output, but I suspect that it’s giving me a little transmission tunnel vibration at higher revs, so I dropped Zouave’s stock tii alternator (35 amps) off today at Ralph’s Auto Generator in Tampa, to be upgraded to 60-65 amp output.  Put an ammeter on the car over the weekend, cranked up every electrical device (Cibie headlight brights, Hella 500 driving lights, A/C blower, Spal fan, factory fresh air fan (rebuilt by Hami P), blinkers and stereo with Koogle speakers and Kenwood sub, all to max settings, and it drew only 48 amps, so 60 amps should cover my needs and hopefully the copious bushings will help with the vibration.

Hmmm interesting. I haven’t felt any new vibrations since I installed it but I was wondering if this would end up being something I would have to deal with down the road. I will keep an ear out for that. I guess I figured that E9s would be notorious for vibration issues if this was a design flaw.   Thanks for the input.

Well, some of my friends have been refering to me as The Princess and Zouave as The Pea……🧝‍♀️

First distributor-less drive. Wish I'd done it ages ago - what a transformation! Starts so much easier, idles so much better, smoother through the rev range... wow!

Just need to mount that MegaJolt ECU properly and it's finished :)

Rocker replacement started.

Not bad, not good but better than the other side was.

Right in there with you buddy!  How are your subframe mounts?  I ended up putting in new mounts and am in the process of fabricating and welding in the various bits that go between the inner and outer rockers. Can’t wait to start tacking in the outer rocker!

Getting to the bottom of my horn not working — seems like a PO broke off the tab on the brass ring, so they drilled some holes for a plunger and swapped in a e21 wheel… but that plunger was also broken.

I soldered a jumper wire to the brass ring and we will see how it holds up, hopefully at least until I feel like spending seventy dollars on a replacement ring haha!

it puts the lotion on it’s skin or else it gets the hose again…

bucket augmentation (was subsequently shaved down a lot more to just fill gap to rear card). back clearanced for rear well per usual, but backfilled with insitu wax paper molded glass layup:

one mostly done; can see asymmetry needed to extend bolster to rear card:
