I got home last night after my epic road cruise. 2500 miles, over 40 hours behind the wheel, many hours @  4500-5000 rpm and the car ran really well.

It was great meeting you Landon, I told your story to quite a few people and bragged about your 2002 having over 430k miles!  I had as much fun on the drive to Santa Cruz as at the races.  Maybe someday we'll meet again!

2 days is def not enough time.

you need about a week to do it right. i've been going for a long time and anything less then 5-7 days is a waste imho

Definitely not enough time but anytime you spend there is definitely not a waste.....

Will next year be as exciting?  I'm seriously considering driving down from Canada.

Would someone run a poll?  Steve?  I'd be curious to know if there will be as good a turn out next year.

Oh yeah...where is the nearest campground?  That would be so much fun.

I do not know how big the BMW turn out will be next year since it will be 101st anniversary :)

The closest camping site is on the track. There are reserved spaces and general camping.  I think reserved spaces go up for grabs sometime in December. People from previous year have the right of first refusal. After that they release unclaimed spaces to the public. You can also do general camping. No reserved spaces. Some of it is on the hill so your tent might be tilted. Getting there on Thursday helps getting a good spot.

We will be in our space next year again.  This will be third year in a row.

I see myself in at least three of those photos, which is nice, because I don't actually remember much of Legends. I had a 102* Fever and a massive headache throughout most of the weekend.

But overall, it was good.

what a awesome event.  i just got home.  unfortunately my plans to drive the car all the way back from delaware were shot down when 1200 miles from home in omaha NE the alternator quit so i had to tow i the rest of the way.  other than that, the cv joints and a wheel bearing the car performed flawlessly for over 5,500 miles in under 2 weeks

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
