SoCal Vintage 2015

I was able to attend SoCal Vintage today.  I had the pleasure of meeting Danco (Ryan) and 02Princess (Lisa).  It was great to actually meet people in person.  For those that could not attend I took a few pictures to give you a flavor of the event.  I don't have an official car count but there seemed to be more than last year.  My wild guess would be 400 cars give or take.

Welcome to Vintage

What a day. I just woke up from my beauty nap. Glad the car made the 110 mile round trip with absolutely no pre-flight check. There were many "firsts" for me and this car today. One of which was driving it on the freeway.

Nice to meet you Ken! Now hurry up and get your damn car back already.

Is there a standard brake booster still with the supercharged m42? Very cool, regardless.

I didn't ask about the brake booster.  I took a look at the other pics I have and I can tell.  If it's there it has to be very tight.

He had a tank in the truck running a water mixture that is injected for cooling i.e. no intercooler

He was running 6-7 lbs of boost and thought he was around the 200hp range give or take.

Glad to hear you made it home ok.  How did it run on the way back ?

If I'm not at SoCal vintage next year someone isn't going to be happy :)

Great event, worth the trip from the East Coast. Great to hang out with my West Coast friends and meet new ones.

It's not easy to organize these events, and John and  Jeff have done a great job over the years.

With that being said, though, I've noticed quite a drop in enthusiasm, myself included, over the last couple of years.

Many of the people didn't show up, and they have some very cool cars such as all those NK cars. It may be the economy or simply the logistics of getting to the show. For many once or twice is enough. And, there are much more newer Not so Vintage cars at the show. People are no longer bringing things to sell or trade etc. I'm afraid the show has run its coarse.

I could not agree less with Slavs, it's always a great show, there were more people selling parts on blankets etc some great dealers selling cool parts & a bunch or really cool cars, more 02's than last year we all felt . Well done John & Jeff for putting on such a cool laid back event.

This is only my 2nd time to hang out.  Always amazingly astounding to see so many 2002's in one place.  I've only been driving my 2002tii around the San Fernando Valley for 41 years and I have rarely rarely rarely seen another 2002 ..... who are all these people driving these 2002's I don't see ????

Cheers,

Carl
