history and reference 1600 Cabriolet at car club this morning

This silver/blue 1600 cabriolet showed up at our local car club meeting this morning north of San Diego. I never got the chance to say hi to the owner or ask questions, so here it is with no details to add.

I believe late 1502s were the only ones without beltline trim.

You're right, Paul. As, of course, is John. It's missing the beltline trim. Seems like an odd choice for a rare model such as this.

Someone has suggested they believe this to be a cut-down hardtop, based on the windshield and vent window configuration.

It has fixed vent windows and a more rakish windshield as a cabriolet should, looks like the real deal and not a Lumma.

I would concur on this car being the real deal, it appears to have most of the right stuff on it, including the unique rear view mirror.  The driver's side flag mirror and trim delete seem to be the only odd pieces.  Always good to see another Cab in my neighborhood.

my good friend, Sean Steele. Sean owns Autobahn Parts in El Cajon (BMW & Porsche dismantaler) and used to work for Carl Nelson many moons ago.

 

Sean recently picked this Voll Cab up from the original owner. He is going to put the belt line trim back on the car!
