Know the VIN  as well as the date of construction (per Andreas Hart). NOTE: not disclosing either, as I also use those numbers as my passwords for, like, everything.  It's similar to knowing you kid's birthday and birth weight.  Doesn't everyone keep this information at their fingertips?

My current one is easy to remember- 2764232. My last one's first three digits were the same as the local exchange where I was living. That resulted in a lot of confusion when people would look at the VIN on the steering wheel column. Sad to say I have forgotten the VIN by now!
