I just went over 30 years of 02 ownership this year, but I'm on my 5th 02 now. First was a 75 Euro spec 1802, second and third were 74 02's, 4th and current are 74 tii. I like square tail light cars, especially with Euro bumper conversion. I'm such a sick puppy I've got into E3's and E30's as well. I've managed to cure my sickness some by selling my Euro spec E12 & E28 in the past year.

Congratulations.

25 years with my Touring, and almost 40 years with '02s.

The newest car that I have owned (not counting the Wife's) was a '78 525.

Congrats, and Happy Birthday. I'm going on 18 years of ownership this summer of my '67 1600 "Red". Though, it's been in my life since I was 13. which makes a total of 23 years. I'm 36 now....

My parents still have the '72 Tii they bought new. That would be 40 years next Feb.

Happy birthday. I bought my first one in 1982, 4 main drivers over the years with a few years off for Japanese car therapy.

I just drove my 73 around Flat Head lake to Glacier National Park. Stayed in White Fish and then went down to Missoula. Big Sky Country for sure. Montana is a beautifull state.

Saw a clean looking e21 / 320i driving in Western Montana and we gave each other the thumbs up. Saw very few BMWs at all the rest of the time.

Congrats! That's a long time to keep one car and a long time to be around 02s. I bought my first one back in 1991 when I was 12, a '72 Tii that was going to be a restoration project with my dad. Unfortunetly that car was far too rusted and ended up a parts car. I'm on my fifth 02 now and I've had a number of parts cars too in the 20 years since then.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
