  1. DC and acid batteries is old school EV - and also potentially cheaper but really heavy and not a lot of range unless you add more/bigger batteries. Zach
  2. Did you do the stretch fit because you likes the look, or because otherwise they rubbed? Zach
  3. Tell us about your car. Suspension, tires, etc. What's what. Zach
  4. I'm not sure I understand the application here. I could see it for hot rods and show cars that are designed for looks and have smaller radiators mated to huge engines and only get drive to and from shows. And I guess there would be 2002 applications in that vein. Or old british cars that had too little radiator from the factory and would overheat in traffic as a rule. But for a car that is designed to be driven, and has a radiator that is properly sized to the engine, I don't see how this would be an improvement over a traditional thermostat that turns on the fans at some pre-set temperature. Zach
  5. Sounds to me like it needs to be bled. There is air trapped somewhere, allowing pedal movement. When it went hard, you had essentially pumped up pressure to the pedal. OR You have a vacuum leak and when it went hard for whatever reason, you were not getting the expected assistance from the vacuum booster. But i bet you need to bleed it. Zach
  6. Does anyone know of any summer compound 13 inch tires anymore? I'd really like more sporty (yet still DOT legal) tires for my car. Zach
  7. I'd suggest against a roll cage if you don't drive your car with a helmet at all times. Roll cages are absolutely unforgiving in an accident and tend to be easy to smack your noggin on. Zach
  8. That lincoln is a nice little welder, and will have plenty of power to do anything on a BMW. Especially since the bottle comes with it, I'd jump on it. Zach
  9. If you are into 914s then www.914world.com is pretty awesome. Zach
  10. I think an electric 2002 is pretty damn cool. There is so much happening with electric these days. I kinda want to build one, but I don't trust the LiPo batteries to not burn down my car/garage/house. :-/ Zach
  11. When you built the engine -were the oil passages cleaned and clear? -did you check bearing clearances (plasti-gauge or some sort of jigged measuring device?) The first engine I built I assumed that the bearings would fit right. They seemed like they fit right. The engine spun just fine. But I never checked tolerances, there was too much gap, and I was never able to build pressure even with an HD pump. I'v also had friends (not me this time) build engines and not build pressure, only to find huge buggers of RTV blocking oil passages. Zach
  12. I also think that the cars look better without all the trim, and don't plan on putting it back on my car. I'm not exactly cutting corners on my restoration. Zach
  13. They have a picture of the fabric in question right on the site. A good sign for the OP. Zach
  14. There are floor pans for the back and front available. But. Race car. Curious, are the floors just screwed down or are they bonded as well. The floors do add stiffness and strength to the car, and I'm not sure if sheet metal screws alone would allow that to still be the case. Zach
  15. I got mine yesterday (ordered on the last day of the GB, and they were backorded). If its in country, chances are very good that you will get it. Zach
  16. Welding cast iron is very tricky, as Mark said. It will likely crack again. Back when I owned a weird jeep that had parts that could not be found I looked into welding cracked headers. In the end, pre-heating, gas welding, and slow cooling seemed like too much work especially after I found a crack free header. Zach
  17. Saw it last night. I was curious if it was a members car. Also want to know what suspension work was done to it, since he mentions that he autocrosses it in the "less edited" first drive video. Zach
  18. Man. At the very least smooth out the flash left over after those "swirl generators" were cut in. Zach
  19. I'm going to second the guess that the EDIS is wired wrong, or is defective. If you can eliminate it, do so. I know Microsquirt can run spark for a 4cyl car in wasted spark mode. That's how I'm doing it on my MS run car. I don't know if MS2 can manage spark on its own, but since Microsquirt is essentially MS2... Zach
  20. I had ordered my unit on the last day of the sale and they were out of stock. Just got notice it has shipped. Excited! Zach
  21. I have done this as well. They make straps exactly for this purpose, that have a cap that goes over the top of the tire to keep it from slipping off. Zach
  22. Some great stuff here. Jesus Built my Hot Rod came to mind, but was already listed. More then a Feeling - already listed, fantastic driving song. Not listed that I have seen: Galaxy 500 -Horton Heat Bails of Cocain -Horton Heat End of Miles -Frank Black Howl'n For You -Black Keys Deeds not Word - Dropkick Murphies So many others. My life needs a soundtrack.
  23. Yeah, this stuff happens. When I was making shift knobs more often, I sent one to Germany and it got lost. I ended up making the guy a much more intricate custom knob three months later. He got it, and then got the original knob a week later. Sometimes it just takes time, or it gets dropped, or stuck in customs. Part of the reason I laid off the knob work was that while I liked making them, and loved seeing peoples cars with my work in use I COULD NOT STAND the shipping and admin part of it. 123 seems like a stand up company, and I bet they will make good if the ignition is lost. It may just take some time. Zach
  24. It may be overkill, but if there are bolts that CAN'T come loose (like CV bolts), I break out the wire and safety wire pliers and safety wire them together. Zach
