  1. Thank you both Paul and Conserv - And yes I did fight it for at least an hour just trying to reach the clock, knowing that if I got it out, no way was it gonna go back in.
  2. What I'd like to know is how to get to the clock….A year and a half ago when my seats were out (and the console), I was on my back trying to reach up to it, couldn't, tried to get to it to the left of the glove compartment, couldn't….What's the secret? I have a working clock that I'd like to swap out.
  3. When I relocated the battery to the trunk I installed a disconnect switch to the right of the battery. I ran a hot wire to the stereo so I wouldn't loose my presets, and also to listen to the radio with the engine off if desired.
  4. Turn Your Hymnals to 2002-David E. Davis, Jr Blows His Mind on the Latest from BMW is the original article's title. An absolute classic, mandatory reading for all FAQ geeks, at least once a year.
  5. Hmm….Same thing would happen to me on a few occasions when I had to leave my 73 tii out of the garage in the winter due to a project that required her space. The starter would turn rather slowly, so I would always charge the battery prior to trying to start her, but the same thing would happen……Would turn off the key and the starter motor would keep cranking. Long story short - replaced the starter with a 320i starter. Problem solved. Spins the motor twice as fast as the original 02 starter, and draws way less amperage. I could go into detail as to other differences between the two, but look into that.
  6. Hey, for 4K ish she looks nice. Would be a better daily than a similar priced Toyota. I think it's a decent value.
  7. Wow…..First one I've seen…..And I thought I'd seen everything!!
  8. My 73 tii dash is also cracked. I have never seen a new dash for our vintage (pre 74) 2002.. Read Adawil2002's post again….juz zayin..
  9. Nice to see that Aardvark has not really raised their prices in the last 12 or so years since I bought my seats from Dave. Very happy with them, they (along with Esty's carpet kit) really get loads of positive comments on my tii's interior.
  10. Or Weatherford in Bezerkely - I've had great luck getting just about anything OEM for my 73. 02 Salvage in Hayward might be an option as well.
  11. Did Armands give you an idea as to how long it would take before they could do the work - they've been a bit snooty to me in the past. Just curious.
  12. OK. point taken , as I should have properly prefaced my comment. I should have worded my comment (seriously) as: My 73 tii is the only 2002 that I have owned in 20 years…6 or 7 years ago I replaced the 13's with 15 inch Hartge mags and 195 50 R15's which IMO really made the car look better, most others agree. A slight downside is that they do rub at times….Not a lot but sometimes. I've thought about going through the rolling process, but have a decent paint job and (I may be wrong on this one) don't want to take a chance on paint damage. The car handles great with the 15's, also handled wonderfully with the 13's, with zero rubbing. This has been my experience with my car……I am no expert, but offered my opinion.
  13. Thanks Buckeye - yup, that's the L bracket that exists on mine. Thanks for the info, time to fix things.
  14. Stock 13's will handle the best, will not cause problems but won't look as nice as the 15's, but that's the reality. Unless you want to go through the fender rolling process, which can be a process.
  15. I'm curious how any/all of you have attached the console to the underside of the dash. Mine has a homebrew piece of angled metal at the top, and after I removed/replaced the console after installing new carpet there's a slight gap at the top. Also wondering if there's an attachment point to the trans hump behind the gearshift, as I've heard some say yes, others say no. Just seems that it (the console) should be more secure, not that mine is overly loose however.
  16. Showed that trick to a 6 series owner a few years back, he was blown out of the water.
