  1. That article sure isn't intended for my o2. I guess there are some out there that still have the canister style filter housing that takes a paper refill but mine has a spin on filter. Really, 10-15 minutes to do this job...way simple. Don't pay any attention to that article.
  2. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I have two spares of each side. I'd be happy to give you one to help clear out my clutter. If you want it just pay for shipping.
  3. Let me know if you need another vent window mechanism. Don't know if they're still available but I have an extra I can give you. I hope to never need more than one spare...
  4. So the kit from AKG had everything you needed to rhab the shifter? Seems like there are at least 9 rings, clips and bushings from the FAQ: 8 Spacer ring 25 11 1 220 199 9 Circlip 25 11 1 220 379 10 O-Ring 25 11 1 221 243 11 Spacer Ring 25 11 1 220 439 12 Circlip 25 11 1 220 379 13 Tension Bush 25 11 1 203 682 14 Rubber Washer 23 41 1 466 118 15 Dowel Pin 23 41 1 466 134 16 Gear Selector Rod Joint 25 11 1 220 198 Did all of that come with your kit. What was the price from AKG and what is their web address? I'm going to do this...thanks for the post.
  5. Duct Tape = Eighth Wonder of the World Thanks all.
  6. I'm thinking of having my strut tubes soda blasted for painting. Good idea or not? If I do this, any ideas on how to protect the spindles in the process?
  7. Anybody got a nice rust free manual pedal box to give up? Mine is rusted out on the side. I have a nice rust free auto pedal box that I have just learned won't work for the manual
  8. I am in the midst of a complete front end rebuild and have had a devil of a time getting the struts to cooperate, as some may note from and earlier post. Before and during any involved project such as this I spend a lot of time on the faq learning from you all. A few days ago a fellow faq'er was at the same point having a hard time coaxing 25+ year old struts out of their tubes. After applying c.d.'s advice from that string of how to heat the tubes (or more specifically how not too), the strut nearly leapt out of the tube. Almost all of the advice given on this site is golden but c.d. sets the standard. His experience is unquestionable and freely given. He always provides necessary safety guidance in his clear and easily followed posts. As testament to his value to the site, note how many strings end with his posts. Once c.d. speaks nothing more need be said. Thank you Mr. c.d. for all you do for us (because we sure aren't teaching you anything).
  9. Clearly, trailering is expected since Scott has included information on where you can and cannot park your trailer. Do what's best for your situation and don't worry about anyone else's opinion...is what I say! PLUS if any of your buds in the ATL area have an extreme blowout you are there to lend a way to get their injured car home. AAA is great but they won't tow you that far. LOL
  10. Began life as a Polaris. Now in Titan Silver awaiting engine transplant, interior, etc.
  11. Anybody used Stern's kit? http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/relays/relays.html
  12. I'm in! Anybody going thru Chattanooga or Knoxville can hook up with us on Thursday the 26th. Dept Birmingham 0730CT Dept Chattanooga 1100ET Dept Knoxville 1400ET Arr Winston Salem 1800ET This is ambitious but I have to check into the BandB by 7pm. Hope to have the '74 up by then...if not the Sahara '76 will make it.
  13. Maybe I'm calling it the wrong thing...it is the nut on top of the strut and the strut bearing. In the past I haven't had to go this extreme. I remove these nuts and the six bolts from the sub-frame. I then slowly jack the rest of the car up to relieve the spring tension (the engine is out of the car). Worked well last time.
  14. After reading several posts on the subject I decided to remove these nuts while still in the car. Why are they so hard to remove? This is the first one. I'm putting it next to the one on the other side as persuasion ;-)
  15. You have: A) automatic (water or electric) choke manual choke with a cable to a knob in the cabin or C) no choke because it was removed or never hooked up. Attach a picture of the carb and we can tell what kind of choke is ( or should be) there. My car had very similar symptoms and I went nuts trying to figure it out. When I stopped chasing my tail and thought about it for a while I discoverd that the choke pull off was shot. I got a new diaphram from Jaymic and that fixed me right up. The car has never run so good. I almost hate to sell it.
  16. Nothing but a Turbo stripe makes an o2 look fast. I say stay black...it's in.
  17. Hmmm, probably price. I just bought a brand new one from B&N for $25 shipped although had I seen this one first I would have snagged it. Great book.
  18. will not work on this case. hey, just accept JhC for the entertainment value.
  19. freakin hilarious. thanks for making my day:-)
  20. Hey John, are you in a Beach Jet and based in CVG? My controllers say Options is in BHM almost every day.
  21. I got into o2s because of one of my "fun" jobs as a teen. I was a lot boy for a used car dealer in Central Illinois. He had a '76 o2 which I used to ferry customers and parts for a summer. I thought that car was awesome...it was. I later went to the University of Illinois, Aeronautical Engineering, on the 8 year college plan. My dad got tired of that and forced an official hiatus from school to take my current job. I've been at it for 30 years as an Air Traffic Control Specialist for the Federal Aviation Administration. Fun work and awesome job security/benifits. They even let me go back to school to finish my degree in Mathematics. About to retire now, need to find that second career.
