    From personal experience, measure your car for an accurate number. For reference, my car measured at 59.25". It fit with the diff about in the middle of its adjustment. That is using a stock 8 bolt guibo. (4 bolt flanges).

    Kind of wondering if you hooked the vacuum line to the vacuum port instead of the ported vacuum port. There are two ports. One is on the intake manifold which is engine vacuum and the other is on the carburator base which is ported. You need to use the ported one. If you are and you are seeing issues, maybe something in the carb has gone terribly wrong.

    In my 2002 I do carry a spare, but the MINI did not come with one (and no place to put one). I switched from the runflats long ago and still do not carry a spare. What I do carry is a tire emergency kit. It includes a bottle of liquid slime and an electric pump. Have not needed it yet, but who knows. That might be an option for you if you choose not to carry a spare.

    Check the locking collar for the strut insert. It might be loose.

    This is an E21 forum, not specifically 323 but there are quite a few 323 guys here. I am not aware of a specific 323 forum.     You can take the inspection plate off the bottom and see if it went all the way thru.

    Also realize that if the guibo is not fully bolted in (all 8 bolts) it will be larger in diameter than when it is in its free state.

    If you use a cam with the correct gear on it. The E30 distributor spins the opposite direction from the 2002 distributor.
