  1. Road to the Summer Concours and event pics. The good news....almost everyone in our little Southern California caravan, placed or won 1st in our respective catagories...Good day for all.
  2. That's good Matt, you can be the chase vehicle and pick up all the parts as they fall off of our old cars.....Glad that you are still going.
  3. My cousin lives in Carmel, so I will stay with them Thursday night. I am headed back to SB friday night. Are you trying to stay all weekend, or just Thursday night? The Asilomar Conference grounds has rooms for Thursday night only at $139 but they are going fast http://www.travelnow.com/hotel/propertydetails/214540/SUMMARY?isHRN=true&position=20&travelDetail=[20100812-1]2&cid=254243 Good luck, hope to see you up there.
  4. For those of us that frequent the rural roads in Central California, what rural roads do we have to watch out on???
  5. You driving up with the rest of the socal group on Thurs morning? Did you find a reasonable place to stay? I signed up in time, but I am still investigating housing. Would rather not stay in Salinas. You will find plenty of free stuff to look at on thurs nite, just for the price of parking downtown. I am driving up on Thurs AM and back fri nite.
  6. It is only paint....It would be cool to see what he would do to it.
  7. Yep, Katy is a PK (preacher's kid) from Santa Barbara. Looks like the Video was shot at Goleta Beach and in the Santa Ynez Valley (SB area). Don't know if I would want all those kids sitting on my car.
  8. If it hasn't locked the steering wheel, and you need to drive it. A temporary quick fix will put you on the road. You have to remove the cardboard panels under the dash to gain access to the back of the ignition. The switch part of the ignition can be removed easily from under the dash. (2 screws) If the steering wheel has locked, this trick is not advised. You can start and stop the engine by turning the now unattached switch with a large screwdriver blade. When time allows, you can remove the steering column surrounds and gain access to the lock, which can be pulled out after you punch out, or drill out a small pin in the bottom. Then you can sit down at the kitchen table and figure out how to fix the lock. Use the search and you should find plenty of posts for similar problems. Mike in Beavercreek has a good write up on the lock. Email him and he will send you a copy. 9. agree with all the selections. Central California has some beautiful driving roads. (also motorcycle favorites) This is 198 heading east out of San Lucas 198 still heading east just before crossing hwy 25 (another wonderful road paralleling 101) another fun East to West road is Hwy 58 (Buttonwillow/I5 to Paso Robles area) Lots of "whoop dee doos" Of course, now it is summer, and it would not be green anymore. We drove all these roads during the TargaCalifornia in April.
  10. This link outlines a gathering at the end of this month. http://www.socalvintagebmw.com/WarmUpDrives.html Get on SoCal Vintage BMW email list and they will keep you up on their events. Don't miss the 3rd annual meet in October.
  11. I agree...We drove that during the TargaCalifornia. I was followed by all these guys. G16 is definitely a Mini road. He was right there in my mirror all the way. I should have let him just go by. By the way, throw a 200 lb passenger in the car and see how it changes the handling.
  12. Dave, See if Dubois is up for a visit. He is in Hollister, not far from Monterey. One of the most helpful, hospitable, guys on the board. You can detour up hwy 25 from San Lucas to Hollister. You won't regret it. call me for more info.
  13. here is the fuse page from my 76 manual. US California version. Can't look under the hood right now, but I think it matches.
  14. 1802s also had clocks. But I like tachs better...
  15. Wow Tom, you make my head hurt. I am constantly amazed at your encyclopedic knowledge of the 02s. That is a well deserved praise. Why do we need the FAQ if we have you and CD? I am glad that my touring is just a Daily Driver, and don't need to worry about those little things. But for someone trying to keep the Concours judges happy....you are "Da Man".
  16. Thanks for the "Heads-up" Charley....I checked out Motormaven's early bimmerfest entries, and didn't see it. Very nice article.
  17. Driving home from Orinda this morning (Mon) 10:30 am Southbound on 580 (not in the 02) and saw a beautiful Inka Roundie exiting at Bollinger Canyon Road. Anyone here?? I think I recognize it from one of the Shamrock Rallys. It is always fun spotting 02s when we are on the road.
  18. Julius is now in Santa Barbara?? Now I have to keep my eye out for him.
  19. Eddie, glad you completed the round trip. Great meeting you at Bimmerfest
  20. nice, Josh. Must have missed you. Trying to put Names, Screennames, cars, and faces together can be difficult. At least you got a shot of my oversized round taillights.
  21. #3 and 4 Steve K's (FAQ Fearless Leader) beautiful FI set-up and car. BF2 is me... BF7 didn't even notice the 1600, and no the outfits are not painted on. I checked closely. Boy, those were long legs.. BF11 Ireland booth BF17 & 18 used to belong to "TwinTurbo" Alvin. Won one of the Classic awards. BF 19 look like one of the Groma cars BF 16 M2 won best in show
  22. It was great meeting you, Eddie. Enjoy San Diego, and hope both you and the car get back home safely. No matter what your wife said, we don't think you are that crazy. Of course we are car guys, actually 02 car guys, and lots of us envy your road trip. Tell FedEx to take good care of your baby.
  23. absolutely, see you in the morning. Just look for all the 02s. He is on the northwest corner.
