Drivers! The Ireland Engineering Open House is coming up a week from Saturday, on October 12 at 11AM. Jeff will have out and available a number of specials on new performance parts for your vintage BMW as well as some used parts as well - so bring cash! There is always a strong turnout for this Open House so show up early before all the goodies on sale are gone! Ireland Engineering is located at 2086-B Central Avenue, Duarte, California 91010. Although we don't lead drives anymore, a few of you have asked for a map to take a drive before the open house on 10/12, and here is a full loop on the Angeles Crest and Angeles Forest Highway. This is only a suggested route so if you go make it as short or as long as you want. This route is 3.5 hours, so leave early and plan accordingly. Since the Angeles Crest has gotten to be a dangerous road we again only suggest it, and we do not recommend driving there. Here is a suggested route: https://goo.gl/maps/S2sKjHarPZkzsx2g6

  4. Drivers We hope you are having a safe holiday weekend, and to our friends in Texas and all areas ravaged by Harvey we send our thoughts and prayers and best hopes you get through this difficult and tragic time. We have a date for the Ireland Engineering Open House, it will be Saturday, Oct 14, at 11AM. It will be especially interesting for the 2002 owners, as Jeff Ireland has obtained a large load of valuable and hard to find 2002 parts. He's putting together a list and will have them available 'menu style' soon. We are also determining if we're going to do a drive on the Angeles Crest, as it has gotten a bit risky there on weekends. We will keep you updated As you know from past years, we always raise the registration for the SoCal Vintage BMW Meet to $25 after Labor Day, to encourage early registration. Please register by the end of tomorrow to avoid the price increase! We want to have a huge turnout for our 10th Anniversary Meet and we have great things planned - along with the great cars, people, sponsors and food that we have every year! Go now and register before the price goes up: https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/10th-annual-socal-vintage-bmw-meet-2017-woodley-ave-park-378279 Have a safe rest of the holiday weekend John & Jeff
  5. As many of you already know, the SoCal Vintage BMW Meet is this Saturday, at 8 AM at Woodley Park in Van Nuys. Since we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the 02 series, we already have a big number of 02's registered and are expecting a lot more. This should easily be our biggest show yet. We encourage you to register ahead of the show, as we can check you in faster and we can keep the lines shorter. It's also a way to make sure you're guaranteed a goody bag, as those who pay cash day of show have to wait until all who've pre-registered are checked in. Save yourself the hassle - register at www.motorsportreg.com/events/socal-vintage-bmw-meet-2016-woodley-ave-park-628148 We are also introducing a neat new feature this year - the Driver's Choice Awards will be online, so you can voted straight from your phone. Bookmark or save the link below - and give it a try right now so you can practice. At the meet you'll simply enter the window card registration number, click next, and move on to the next model - we have it set up right now so you can practice: https://goo.gl/a6FxY8 Try it out, so you'll be all set to vote for the Driver's Choice Awards at the meet Please register and see you Saturday! John & Jeff
  6. Drivers The 9th SoCal Vintage BMW Meet is ONE MONTH away!! We are finalizing t-shirt design, getting our committed sponsors on our shirts and signage and getting all our goody bag swag together to make the 9th Meet as god or better than any of the previous ones! If you haven't already done so, please register this weekend - registering early ahead of the meet makes things so much smoother at check-in, we already have all your info and payment, and just give you your goody bag and simply check you in. It makes the check in line go faster, so we can all be parked sooner and getting out and about among the hundreds of amazing Vintage BMWs that make up our fun party in the park. Since this is the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the 02, we really want a huge 02 turnout. Please go and register at www.msreg.com/SoCalVintageBMW2016 and get the word out! Now our last drive leading up to the Meet will be The Angeles Crest Drive to the Ireland Engineering Open House in two weeks on Sat Sept 24. The drive will start at The La Canada Flintridge Town Center - where the Sport Chalet used to be - meet in front of the Hamburger Habit. Drive will leave about 8AM, its a fantastic 130 mile drive through the mountains, so make sure all your brakes, safety equipment, cooling systems, etc are ready to handle it! Stay tuned as there may be drive updates. Here is the route link - but DO NOT CLICK the link on your phone, copy and paste the URL into your phone's browser (the link is fine on your computer, just not the phone) https://goo.gl/maps/1USTVuFfY2u For some reason google maps is very user unfriendly when you map a route back over roads you already went out on - whatever! The drive will end at the Ireland Engineering Open House. Bring lots of cash, Jeff always has specials that he runs just for the people showing up for that day.

  14. Price:: 400 Location: : Pacoima So I went and got tires that were too wide despite Alpina 7" wheels. So, there is available a brand new, never used set of BF Goodrich T/A Radial performance tires, P225/60R-14s - they'll cost about $115-120 each new, plus tax if you went to get them on your own, so drop a note at jeff@socalvintagebmw.com if you're interested and work out a deal. Or it you have a brand new set of 205's that'll work too!!
  15. Drivers We wanted to give a shout out to one of our new sponsors, German Motorsport, as they're rolling out a really nice Euro bumper conversion kit to coincide with the SoCal Vintage BMW Meet - we wanted to pass it along so the FAQers were aware of it. German Motorsport is also offering later ('74-'76) N American 2002 owners have had to deal with the onerous, unattractive 'big bumpers'. Now German Motorsport offers an easy, convenient kit to easily convert the unsightly US front bumper to the much more appealing Euro version: http://www.germanmotorsport.com/performance/bmw/performance-parts/bmw-1600-2002/body-and-trim/2002-euro-front-bumper-conversion-kit.html The kit includes: Euro style front bumper brackets; Drilling template for drilling the mounting points; Weld plates to cover the US bumper mount opening on the nose of the car; Instruction manual for mounting the bracket conversion kit; Link to Instructions on how to convert the rear bumper. Complete front bumpers (Left, center and right), overriders and rubber stripping also available - please inquire for cost. Looks great!
