Blown away by my freshly plated parts

I took several large boxes to the local plating shop last month and what I got back was shocking. I could kiss these parts, they are so beautiful. I think my wife is getting a little jealous.  Most advice I saw was to bead blast and polish prior to taking to the plater. When I called the shop they said to bring it the way it is and I would be happy with the result. So I loaded up the car with boxes of rusty, crusty, oldy, moldy, dirty, greasy bits and pieces... Pretty much every bare metal piece on the car, plus some spares. $240 for everything, well worth it in my opinion.  I'm glad I stopped trying to do the plating on my own. Just getting the parts clean was beginning a nightmare.

Shout out to Duris Electroplating in Springville, UT.

I took lots of pictures, but nowhere near enough. That, combined with my aging memory is where you guys will come in handy. Somewhere down the line pictures of my "what the heck is that" bin will surface here.

It's a shame you have to hide those beautiful window regulators behind a door panel.

You can always install plexiglass interior door panels to show off the regulators and back side of the door locks...

Awesome, greatest feeling… one of the best moments of the whole restoration ordeal.

Any of the parts you want to keep looking nice (aside from mechanisms), I’d suggest a clear enamel (or similar). It’s disheartening when your bling-fresh plated subframe hardware looks haggard after two weeks of mild driving.

Do you know if that shop will let people ship parts in from out of state? I’m in ID so not too far but haven’t found a plating company up here.

Give them a call and ask. (801)491-2926.  If they won't do it, let me know and maybe we can work something out. If you are anywhere along eastern Idaho (Rexburg, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, etc), I will be up there in the middle of next month, so it could save you shipping one way at least.
