want to see picture: Tii clock holding bracket

Hi, title says it all i would like to see the holding bracket of a Tii clock....i guess its only a flat bar with two holes in it.

When installing the clock in the dash of my 69, I simply followed the factory perforated markings found on the back and started cutting a small hole, then enlarging it so the clock would press tight into the opening. This was done with the dash out of the car. No bracket required.  
 

For your factory tii, you might try wrapping some electrical tape around the clock housing for a tighter fit.

Each of two times I installed the tii clock in my ‘76 — August 1976 and July 2012 — one of the clock’s thumb nuts disappeared deep into the bowels of the car, never to be found. I had, fortunately, sourced a spare thumb nut before the 2012 re-installation, so I was able to — for the second time — weather the loss of 50% of the fasteners. And I am happy to report that a tii clock will remain securely in place over 44 years with only one thumb nut... ??

 

My clock’s thumb nuts are metal, not plastic as shown on the eBay bracket.

 

When some lucky car person, fifty years from now, disassembles my ‘76 for a ground-up, he/she’s going to find those two lost metal nuts and report it excitedly on this forum... or maybe a successor forum! ?


Of course he/she’s also going to assume that the clock must have been a factory option on ‘76 2002’s... ??

There are at least two differerent versions of the ti/tii dash clock and they use different brackets since the mounting bolts are in different locations on the back.  Here are a couple of early and late versions.

In situ installation is a three or four knuckle job.  I agree with Jim that the bracket can be done without by making the opening a tight fit.

Press fit for the win. It also helps if your clock still might need adjusting (runs too fast/slow). I installed mine years ago without the bracket and it never gets loose.

That may work for some, Ed.

 

But my ‘76, with its non-stock 9.3:1 compression, generates far too many G’s on acceleration for a “friction fit”. One thumb nut per tii clock is just about right for a “restomodded” example such as mine. ???

 I know, I know!  

 

I decided to design a tool to spin-on the knobs.  First off, I positioned the clock and stuffed a towel in front on the parcel shelf to keep it being pushed out of the hole in the dash from behind.  

 

Then I used this tool:clock tool1.jpg

 

Makes it a one finger job.  Really easy.  What I don't remember is if the consul was in or out.  I think out.

 

BTW, horizontal bracket - up to 74. vertical bracket 74 - 76.
