This came with a parts lot. Don’t know where it came from.

 

Anyone know what this was used for?

I believe this was used to carry Factory Firewood for kindling small fires under the oil pan to thin oil and aid starting in -40F and below in the NK 1600/1800.

Ah yes, from the BMW ‘pioneer’ era.. a true relic. 

 

As for what it’s made of..it’s a synthetic suede front with a plastic backing. Will have to get it carbon-dated to be sure of when it was made.

When the Factory Firewood is burned up, go aftermarket, a lot cheaper, but is the quality the same.  Each piece from the factory had a roundel grown into it, not stamped like the Chinese knockoff stuff.

Well, I finally figured it out. One of two possible uses for this bag back in the day.

 

This is the bag that Ernst used to carry valuable items to Hans while stationed at the assembly line.
