Found some Alpina / Borrani bi-metallic wheels

Completely unexpected, but just found these. Looks like exactly what was on the ‘72 Alpina tii touring that sold on BAT not too long ago.

Will take some time to think about what to do with them.

Rare birds for sure (really rare), don't think I have ever seen a set outside old magazine articles.  Great score.

Sweet score! I was lucky enough to pick a set last year! Mine have a different part number(R1/476)!  Curious to know the backspace on your set!

The wheel on the left is the same as the ones you both have - black center, silver outer rim...

But to be clear, Les, although both were manufactured by CMR, the Boston rims are steel rims, welded together. They’re also not an Alpina item. The Alpina Borrani’s are all alloy, riveted together with steel rivets. The ET40 of the Boston rims is going to take a hefty spacer, but they could be made to work, and might provide some space for a car with the Big-Brakes.

It was dumb luck finding these. Actually, felt more like I was rescuing the wheels. 

 

I was in some guy’s backyard/junkyard checking out rusted out parts from the one 2002 he parted out years asking myself why in the world I was there. Was about to high-tail it out of there when he asked if I wanted to see some ‘steel’ wheels that came with the car. I first said no because I was mad at myself for driving 45 min out there to begin with, but reconsidered. 

 

Here is is a pic of where the wheels were ‘stored’. 

 

Lugging the wheels up the hill on his property passed the carcasses of old hot rods, backhoes, and busses was pretty interesting in of itself.

Think you're gonna need new tires, though!  And be sure to check those rivets holding rim to center.  If they are in fact steel, all that sitting outside may have deteriorated the rivets and/or the seal between rivet and rim.  You can see some corrosion on the rim-to-center joint; you want to make sure the rims are air-tight before you fit new tires.
