Have to give props to IE for doing this.  These grills are a bit art nouveau and may not appeal to everyone.

Putting a nice set of grilles on a 2002 race car isn’t easy to justify, as they get wrecked easily (hit by rocks, and by parts falling off Datsuns). I understand the function of IE’s racing grilles, though stylistically perhaps not to everyone’s liking.

 

For the newest race car build, I took a set of grilles with missing slats, fabricated and welded on new slats, had the shiny parts polished and anodized, reinforced the slats with wire and epoxy, then covered the slats in black tape (which may fall off, looking like black streamers going down the race track). Good for photos, we’ll see how long they last. -KB

 

(Spun aluminum faux ‘headlights’ added for aerodynamic purposes.)

Accurate reproduction grills will be available soon.  We have already checked the pre-production samples.  Shooting for October.  The late model plastic side with metal center should be about $240/set and the early all metal should be about $540/set.
