I think the pool idea along the sides is a winner, I also agree with the parents duties in all this but the kid is 4 and it will take time to learn so  a ounce of prevention and so on! I have learned that the only neighbor wars that are worth while are the ones avoided.

I'm loving this thread i've created.

Great ideas and suggestions.... including the ones that sound like torture! haha.

I already caught the kid making contact with the car and she denied it to her mom and well... who is the mom going to believe?  Not me...  I'm actually going to take the cover off and photograph the current state of the car just to be safe... as future evidence...

I'm going to find some railroad ties to lie around the car.  Those should act as a first barrier of sorts.  I'm still on the hunt for extra padding.  I'm thinking of moving blankets between the car and the car cover...

If i wasn't renting this property, i'd build a fortress around the car.

Get some 2 inch styrofoam from Home Depot or Lowe's and put it under the cover. Like the railroad ties idea.

Most people have a video camera in their pocket these days.  Should answer that question for the mom.

Had to google. Absolutely no idea what you're talking about. ☺

I think the paintshop estimate would work best.

here's what I fabricated to ward off door dings in a garage.  Pool noodles fit 1/2" PVC perfectly.  Depending on your protection requirements, you could add 3 or 4 more parallel tubes.  Or, self standing fence ...  PVC tubing is great stuff.  And cheap.
