Today I changed my oil and made a drip tray that fits underneath the filter, to steer the oily mess into the catch pan.

I recently installed a cozy Alpaca shift knob cover.  The glass door knob shifter felt cold one morning and one thing led to another.  The top half of a sock, plus three rubber bands and no more chilly fingers.

they are a polycarbonate; less likely to fracture than glass …and lower weight. 😀 most of their weight seems to be in the pot metal heat sink into which the led module mounts.

tapping on the covers does not give that satisfying glass sound so i hope to avoid tapping on them any more often then i tap on the rest of the light fixtures.

would prefer if the holley name wasnt molded into center of the cover.

otherwise i think the visual appearance is spot on a glass sealed beam and wont look goofy in a few years like so many of those jeepish led lamps.

Howard,

are these plug and play? Any wiring mods required?

thanks

Started to replace my trunk side panels with new ones.

Removed the old one and found this nice DIY effort.

Picked and pulled at it for almost an hour.

Will try a little hair dryer heat tomorrow.

Anyone know a trick to get silicone caulk off ?

I'm all ears.

How do you like the IE exhaust? Seems to get mixed reviews but I am still considering it since it would be a big step up from my crusty rusty OEM setup.

I had my shop add a flex joint and redo the rear hangers so they work better than stock. If it is installed sloppily or loose, it will occasionally knock on the rear subframe. But if it's done right, that isn't an issue.

I don't have anything to compare it to, but it sounds good and works fine for me. It DOES need that transmission hanger -- I had to have my downpipe welded back up where it had cracked due to unchecked movement.

My coupe has been getting all the love lately, took my 72 ceylon tii out for a long drive this morning up to 1650 miles on it since back together after re-freshing.

Beautiful spring day mid 60s not a cloud in the sky…

approaching nearness on the coupe…

Today I learned that I'll be driving back to Sioux Falls, South Dakota again.  Leaving tomorrow, hopefully.  So, I did a little pre-trip car-prep.

I put a couple drops of oil underneath the felt plug in the distributor post and a dab of grease under the points' rubbing block.

image.thumb.jpeg.5fbaebc519e5195cbbd11d6ad5ec7acb.jpeg

I checked the dwell and found it'd dropped to 58, so I set it back up to 60.  In the past, it'd usually climb, instead of drop, but the last two times it's gone down instead.  Weird.

I jacked the front end up to check wheel bearing play and decided to tighten the passenger's side.  That led to repacking and adjusting both sides.  I spent a little time under the hood wiping things down and shining things up, while saying nice things to my engine.  I think it will enjoy two long days of sustained 4,000 rpm driving.  :)   I will too.

I also put the comfortable driver's seat back in the car and the box-o-spare-parts in the trunk.  I think will adjust the valves in the morning.

Getting closer to driving season here in the midwest (there's talk of snow this coming Monday, so we're not salt free yet).  Today I installed the front driving light brackets I fabricated and temporarily installed the NOS driving lights.  Temporary only because I still need to wire them.

Also, the car didn't have a rear license plate bracket (nor a front for that matter).  I couldn't find anything "correct" for the car, so I used this bracket from Volvo.  I did drill two new holes so it would mount lower on the tail panel.  I think it looks fantastic (at least a heck of a lot better than it did).

finally mostly finished the e24 backseat. the e23 cat ear headrests are maybe a new riff on the theme. between welding seatback reinforcement for the bracket and positioning the bracket bolt holes i got a lot of hours in it and must have taken those buckets in and out of the car 200 times.  they do feel great, so if anyone wants to drive my car i’m happy to sit in the back.

I finished up the mud flaps today and it was much easier to do the fronts! The tight spaces of the rear quarters proved to make for hard work. I’m pretty stoked with how they turned out. It’s time to go tear up some dirt now:) image.thumb.jpeg.664bb1572984e1bd0a09ab96830ac23f.jpegimage.thumb.jpeg.77172689acfb1c72ea5043438650a42a.jpeg

Mostly multi day vintage rallys. I plan on doing some of the Northern CA rally cross events but I’ve been enjoying the longer TSD or just fun rallys and the adventure of it. I’m planning on doing the “One lap of America” rally with my dad in a year or two. Really just looking for fun and some dirt with friends:)
