3rd tow with this car...

This time, I lost the clutch pedal and the whole pedal flopped towards the seat.  At the time I didn't realize it, but the bolt holding the MC to the clutch pedal had worked itself free.

Threw the bolt back in at home and it was good to go.  There isn't a ton of purchase on the threads after I tighten the bolt down.  Should I throw some loctite on there for good measure?

At least the bumpers look good!

My annual safety check:  Tires, brakes, hoses, lights, etc., etc.

Found one area of neglect...the headrests!  I'm the only driver, so I never need to adjust them.

Yikes!  Took lots of work to push the buttons on the seats to release and remove them.

Those poor German horses must have been ridden hard and put away wet!

Lots of sweat still in that horsey hair!

Could be a real "pain-in-the-neck" if those posts weaken with rust and break if some jerk in a truck rear-ends you. 😠

Cleaned up with sandpaper and metal polish, then used a long brush to clean the seat bores. A dab of silicon grease and all is well again.

they are a polycarbonate; less likely to fracture than glass …and lower weight. 😀

The issue I have with polycarbonate is the same as on newer cars, that over time they dull and fog over. I had some aftermarket headlights on my 69 f100 and the top half, due to the dome, got dull and translucent. Needed restoration.
For this car I went glass, yet to install them though as I have more pressing urgent needs lol.

all very easy to buff out to new, but that’ll be down the road a long ways so no pics for awhile. 😛

More than that, it is my understanding they have a clear coat uv protectant from factory. When you buff it out you have to replace that. I hear ceramic coat works well.

And that looks like the aluminum CM bolt. Try and find a spare that is made of real metal for when that one breaks. ;-)

Looks great! Love a wood steering wheel. Which one is that?
I’d love a wood one but would need thicker and smaller.  I could never get used to the similar one I had on my truck.

what seats are those? Does the extending front bit work?

Really? What kind of clutch pressure plate are you running? -KB

Stock. The aluminum eyes are a known failure item. The earlier steel ones don't break.

The seats are from an E30 adapted to the 02 rails....

Chipping away at my projects.
Tonight, in addition to reassembling, then fighting my left caliper I also took out and replaced my transmission mount. Cleaned a bunch while under there too.
I noticed a few things while there:

-shifter has no bushings. Explains sloppy shifter.
-exhaust bracket bolts (to trans) were barely hand tight. I think the grease was holding them on. The green rubber bushings also look long past their ‘best by’ date.
-reverse switch was caked in muck and wires not connected. In face only one wire present. The other that should be connected was cut, along with two others (brown and black wires). I think the other two cut wires were to the Fasten Seat Belt light, and the belts were disconnected when I replaced them so that explains that.

Interesting - I guess I might be lucky? (I use both types interchangeably on a few dozen street and race cars watch over, and have not seen either type break.) -KB
