Doing some more prep work for Vintage - put in my "new to me and refinished Recaros"

Does anyone know where to find the plastic covers for the outsides and insides of the Recaros? Thanks!

Don't know if you found them yet, but... This place is legit.

Out with the new, and in with the old…

Today I removed my Bluetooth enabled, USB-ported radio and replaced it with an AM/FM mono Blaupunkt. While I had the console out, I also got the clock working by cleaning the points. That periodic “clunk” is back!

Sorry, haven't been around in a bit, but Wholely Fuck! That's awesome.  I just got to this point on the thread, hopefully there's more.  F20c? Could you imagine? Gawd, my wife would shoot me. For real this time. That's beautiful.

I put the back seat back in (34 lbs.), to make it seem less like driving a shell around.  I also put the Thule racks back in the trunk (14 lbs.).  I am going to carry less junk around, to keep the weight down.  The added lightness feels good.

Hi Tom.

I use a Yakima rack, so round bars.  I was looking a while ago, and might have found carbon tubes that look like they'll fit perfect and take most of that weight off the roof.  (Yes, I have 2 bike racks and a paddle board rack on my roof, along with the sunroof, and use it all all the time- most of the bikes are plastic anyway. It's completely ridiculous to spend that much money to save 10 pounds when there's so much extra up there. Whatever; carbon.) :)

Drove it, put another 10 gallons of non ethanol in it, hauled a bunch of crap in it, put the paddle board on it and took the dog to the res...

(I decided to delete this part as it served no purpose and I was just being a dick. It wasn't anything that bad and it wasn't pointed at anyone, I was just being a dick in general, and with the world being tough enough as it is, I don't need to be adding, especially not here. Sorry to everyone that read it. And for some reason I can't delete the bit that pings Jim...)

@jimk

@M3This keep posting pics for what appears to be an awesome 2.5 s14 build.  :)

And per Barney's 16 months of waiting, I think my car is just fine staying looking like it is. Dude, that would suck.

Edit to add... This is (was) a bit sharp. Sorry about that. Been having a rough time. I'll try to be better.

after the tune we:

eliminated EPS

eliminated EVAP

eliminated Catalytic converter O2 narrowband measurement

eliminated VTEC temp 7200 shut off

raised idle to 1050

widened the torque curve 4200-6500 rpm

tuned to 9k safely

Added Wideband tuning (Honda uses 2 narrow band)

so now it’s noticeably happier diving

Ah, so tune-able.  :)  And now, if for some reason, my s14 melts, you've got a tune file for the f20c! Nice.

Actually, I'd love to see that file anyway; never know what you can learn. We should get @jimk to look at it as well...

I did nothing on the 2002, but Terry Sayther and I spent a couple of hours with Miklos Meszaros in Budapest touring his shop and talking about BMW E9 restoration…he is an incredible craftsman turning out beautiful cars.

Completed my accelerator pedal project; replaced the bushings, cleaned up the pedal box (was in surprisingly good shape), did a little touch-up painting on the floor area there and adjusted the accelerator linkages so it now actually also opens the second barrel on the Weber ?.  While under the dash I also decided to retrofit an electronic flasher as per this article -

- works great!

Lastly following all this, including the prior work of adjusting the valves and replacing wires, points and condenser I started him up.  Started and ran great (thankfully) so all I need to do ignition-wise now is the timing.

Now I'll continue with the rear brakes adjusters project ...

Oh but one more thing, on a related note - on Saturday we went to a German Car Show in Nashville and among many other fine vehicles we spotted two special beauties (see pic below).  One of these days Schmidt will be there...
