Funny, in this photo, the woman appears to be taking a photo of your car, rather than the bridge view!

There was a bit of that going on.  Mostly Japanese tourists getting their picture taken beside the car.

Sweet trip. Got to meet life long heroes (coastal crush) , as well as joke with local legends (rcm3, 02P, Andrew Wilson, etc.).

I was more focused on drinking wine than looking at cars, and I spent a considerable amount of time at the BaT booth uploading more photos for the now-live auction of the baikal blue 73 tii (already over $60k!).

I then snuck away from Legends for a few hours to spend time at the Werks Reunion with my (new) Porsche brethren. I love the BMW gang, but the Porsche addiction is like Cocaine - expensive habit that you can only afford for a short while, but you find a way to buy more cool parts, either via cash or credit. Fortunately for me, I had cash.

I loved this year. It was one of the favorites.

Edit: these were my cars for the weekend. The M4 GTS is a monster. The A4S was a humble little crotch rocket.

Congrats Paul, I'm so happy you made the trip in the Tii what great memories you will have.  I wish I could make that trip in something fun to drive,  I've been to 26 of the last 28 years of the Monterey races and most of them I have driven a 53" semi full of cars.  I would love to see the coast in something fun.  Give the Tii a fresh oil change and a serious detail ( got a few dead bugs?) you both did well.

see ya next year?

It could happen.  Right now my car and I are taking some time apart.  You know how it is...we were getting on each others nerves at the end.  Me sitting for hours on end and the car constantly trying to keep me happy.

We'll see what are next plans are.  I'm only thinking about my winter projects.

Rear subframe re&re.  Never been done before.

Cleaning and re-finishing the bottom (trunk bottom already done)

Engine rebuild?  I think not.  Still going strong at 106K.

A bunch of little things...

I think you need a race car, Porsche or BmW - whichever floats your boat (there I go again spending YOUR money....haha)

You're killing me here.  I want some!  I never got to hear the story on the Alpina tii.  What's with the Euro plates?  Are they legit?  I didn't see any other tags.

Yup, legit Euro Alpina A4, car was for sale in either Germany, Belgium or The Netherlands a few years ago for big dollars/euros. Then here comes Danco in the passenger seat at Legends, what a hoot to see the car in person after all.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
