New Red....

I traded some work with Joe O'neil for this field find '69 1600 a friend of his had. We picked it up on Saturday and it's now at Casey MotorSports awaiting a new lease on life.

First orders of business are to Go, Stop, Turn, Title and four matching wheels/tires... not necessarily in that order. Title first. The lofty goal is to drive it to the Bay Area 02 Swap and Show May 21st. Should I challenge Paul Wegweiser to getting his Tii to the Vintage and me my '69 to the S&S? :b....

Here it was hiding in the bushes. It'd only been in the bushes for a few months.......

... before that it was under the white canopy for years.

Come on out little '02, I've got a nice trailer ride for you... Hard to convince the car that the trailer ride wasn't to the crusher. But after some coaxing with promises of Marvel oil and a new lease on life it came on out of it's hiding place.

We had to serve eviction notice to a resident or two...

Hasn't run in about 20 years...

It's got a '70 2-Liter in it. Too bad it's an early '69 with the longneck, early single line front brakes etc.... BUT, it's FREE! Can't beat that!

Time to head to work now. Hard to stay focussed on work with this toy right outside. :)

THANK YOU JOE and friend Mike!!!!!!!

That looks very similiar to my wife's Pastellblau '76 when we found it in a junk yard, where it'd been sitting for 5 yrs. after sitting for ten more in the previous owner's front yard. Engine compartment looks almost identical - what fun.

Here's a pic of what her's looks like today (we've owned it for 13 yrs.).

Nice find, Tom, and good to see another one saved.

Next time I see it in my review mirror, I will be happy to see you driving it!

I will always do what I can to see these cars stay, or get back on the road.

Here is where it sat in Oroville for many years.

Also thanks to my friend Jordan for letting me borrow his truck and Tony for letting me borrow the trailer.

I notice the driver's side is sitting kind of low...

My vote for your car's new name is Eileen.

Congrats Tom (and Joe!). You guys are really lucky to find one in that great condition just sitting outside for many years.

The tire on the LF was so bad that it didn't even hold air long enough for us to push it on the trailer..... I swapped a bottle cap on it before we rolled it back off.

Joe thinks it should be called Ned... NEwReD....

I think she should be Rue... Red Two

That paint's in better shape than your running car.

A whole lot straighter too.... Not that I'm planning on painting this one any time soon. That's why I got this one, because Red is going in for surgery. After the operation the rehab begins, a very long process. Old Red will be a new car so to speak. :)
