  1. I think these guys are the crazyest of them all!
  2. Or you can try Mobile Tradition if you want OEM parts. http://www.bmwmobiletradition-online.com/bmw/partgrp.do?model=2583&mospid=47141&hg=18&fg=05
  3. Damn! Usually they just take the change! Ive got an extra one if you want it. Just have to look for it. David
  4. Congrats, John! Im getting all the parts together for my F.I. conversion too. Except I'll be using a Haltech ECU instead of Megasquirt. I did have a quick question though. What year 325i fuel pump did you end up using? And is it internal or external? All I need is a fuel pump, O2 sensor and ECU water temp sensor and I have all the parts. Thanks, and good luck with your 02. David in L.A.
  5. The E meant economy. These motors only rev to about 4800 rpm. I think they make 127HP, but they make like 170lb ft of torque. The I motors made something like 165HP and 170lb ft of torque. The also reved to about 6500 rpm. The I motor is the one to have. Many have used the E motors bottom end and the I head. These motors were called Super Eta, I believe. Others will chime in with more info. Good luck!
  6. Not that time consuing. There are 3 bolts that hold on the rear bumper and 2 that hold on the front. When I removed mine the front came out very easily. The rear took alittle more time. I was lucky that I found an early 02 bumper that I bolted on. Looks way better! The only part that sucked was removing all those nuts that held on the rubber accordian pieces.
  7. Duh. I just checked and all the info you need was here in the FAQ all along! This should help you out! http://www.bmw2002faq.com/content/view/44/32/
  8. The Volvo calipers will be from a 240. Like mid to late 80's. But since you have a Tii, you can use the calipers from an early 5 series, I believe. I have a non Tii 02 and I used '77 320i hubs and vented disks, and Volvo 240 calipers. My 02 did not require any brackets. It simply bolted on.
  9. D'OH!!! http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=92c_1188890374
  10. If you swap in a modern engine into your 02 (engine built after your car was) the state will allow it as long as it retains all smog equipment. E30 318i's had fuel injection and a catylitic converter. Not all these hoses, pumps and valves that our 02's have. Since the engines are the same, I'm gonna try to fool these dudes into thinking I swapped in an E30 motor. If that doesnt work, Im looking for a 75! Sad, because my '76 runs so good!
  11. Yes! Even if your car passes the sniffer test it will not pass the visual inspection with headers. Besides, the air pump connects directly to the thermal reactor. So you will have to lose the air pump. I'm in your boat. Having a '76 2002 in Cali sucks balls. I'm getting all the parts together to convert it to 318i fuel injection. Maybe then it will pass.
  12. I bought my 02 with a crane system. Ran great until the black plastic disk that spins with the dist. cracked. One of the metal clips that hold it on the dist. shaft broke and it caused the disk to hit the optical pick-up. I had a set of points so I replaced it with that. Ive never heard of the actual ignition box failing. Hope this helps. Good luck.
  13. Great videos! Congrats on making your first race, Pedro. Sorry to see you got a DNF. Good luck next time! David
  14. Took my 02 to Jack for some repairs and he did a very good job. When I went to pick it up we spent an hour talking about 2002's. Very nice and honest guy. He is a bit on the expensive side, but I would take my car there again. David
  15. Contact Aardvark Racing. Thier 5 speed kit is pretty complete. Good luck! http://www.2002parts.com/html/5speedconversion.html
  16. Try this place. This is where I got my LED lights for my 02. David http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm
  17. One day, man. One day I'll own an 02 as nice as yours. David
  18. Im going to try to mount my early 02 bumper on my '76. I also have to watch my girlfriends 3 year old daughter in the evenings. Sunday I'll be in Fontana for the Nascar Nextel cup race! Never been to one so I'm excited. Monday its back to work. I cant pass up some holiday pay!
  19. You probably have the correct air filter. Your carb has a water choke. Those are the water hose connections that go into the carb.
  20. I bought this kit to install on my 02 a couple years ago. I followed the instructions carefully but the car never fired. To many damn wires. I know I screwed up somewhere. I ended up selling the MSD box and tach adapter. I installed the Pertronix, plug wires and the blue coil and my 02 fired right up. My car was only driven a few days a week. So looking back I dont think I needed all that stuff. My car has been running great with the Pertronix and the installation was a breeze. If your engine is stock I would say just buy the Pertronix unit and save yourself $300. You could always update it later if you want. If your engine is souped up then this is a good package. Just my .02 cents. David
  21. I bought my 320i radiator at a junkyard a year ago and it still keeps my 02 cool. Ive seen some that look new and they only cost about $30. Check there first before shelling out the bucks for a new or recored one. You might get lucky.......
  22. Dude, I so wish you were in Los Angeles. I've always wanted to drive an M20 powered 02. I would lend you my '98 Nissan 200SX. Ice cold air and 35+ MPG on the highway. ARRRGGG!! Anyway, good luck with your search! David
  23. I love Top Gear! But I dont have cable. I try to catch the episodes on Youtube and TV links. I love the episode when they try to destroy that old Toyota pick-up. That POS just wont die!
