  1. Maybe we can even get paid by the locals for Mosquito abatement too! :^) Sounds like a great idea, I'd love to come and watch, or drive the 528e. I just wish my current "spare" engine in the beater was up for autocrossing.
  2. These were also the OE for the square light 02s. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-911-Rear-Fog-Light-NEW-HELLA_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33709QQitemZ300090865779QQrdZ1
  3. nice and level though w/ very very slight rake. I do know i took out the 1 dots cause the rear was to low. The H&Rs are so easy to change out, just unhook the top of the shock and let her droop, that you can experiment easily. Once you've settled on a rake don't forget to have it aligned at that level.

  5. Wolfgang has been working on and BMWs and racing 1600s since before there were 2002s! While Fred has a VERY trick 2002 racer himself. I used to be at Berkeley Motor Works in Albany. But since I left for Sacramento way almost two years ago I don't think they work on 2002s anymore let alone have a tech who likes working on them. One other place I'd take an 2002 in the EastBay is Bavarian Professionals in Berkeley.
  6. I also recommend replacing all the wave lock washers as they eventually crack and getting some (11 33 1 744 355) bolts to have on hand as they do strip sometimes too.... While you're in there it's a good idea to check if the oil sprayer bar bolt has been upgraded to the locking type (11 42 1 738 621) along with two new crush washers (11 42 1 252 343) then torque to spec of 10ft./lb. These are all cheap parts available NEW at the Dealer usually in stock, just not on Sundays.
  7. The e12/e24 vented front calipers are the same as Tii and all other non-vented BMW 6cyl cars from the same era BUT with a spacers in between the halves to allow clearance for the wider vented rotors (doh!). These are the same front calipers as on the vented rotor applications of the e9 Coupes and 2002 Turbo and other vented applications of e3 6cyl sedans etc... Yes the Tii (non-vented) and Turbo (vented) had the same front braking power as the much larger 6cyl Coupes and Sedans abeit with 4x100 hubs instead of 5x120, even the same bearings were used! The calipers you do not want are found on the e23 7-series which are a single line version of the e12/e24 calipers, which are also found on the e28 M5. Yesss Virginia you will have the same brake pad size as a genuine M-car! Just not quite the same diameter rotors. Due to the tight fit of the '77 e21 320i and e21 323i vented rotors within the e12 calipers (they're not quite centered); I recommend using the Tii pads as they have slightly less material thickness and tend to simply fit better w/o dragging on the rotor! Some cars line up better than others though. I have found no east way to remedy this, if someone else has a solution please speak up.
  8. they're available new from the dealer maybe $50 US and are designed for vented rotors on tii/turbo struts. 34 11 1 106 472 Left 34 11 1 106 473 Right
  9. is when two tires of same make/ model may be of different batches and cause the front of said car to pull one way or the other. have you tried to swap the offending tires L > R on the front; does the pull switch from left to right or vise versa? I've seen it most often with cheaper brands but have seen Michelins do it.
  10. 14x6: anywhere from the et35 of e30 bottlecaps to et20, asuming use of 195/60-14 tires. 14x7: not much expierence but I'd assume similar to 15x7 of which will work with (rolled/cut fender lips) et20 to et28 with et24 through et26 being ideal; 205/55-14 possible. don't forget the basics... 4x100 w/ 57.1 (same as water cooled v-dub) hub. I've seen many VW aftermarket wheels on '02s with quality hub centric spacers.
  11. For a picture of what you want see https://www.mactools.com and do a search for TRMSET then choose the first item.
  12. The daeler ususlly sells the fully threaded studs for 2002's which are wrong. The correct ones have a threadless section in the middle that digs in to hold when you install them with a proper stud installer/setter and I always use blue loc-tite as a leak stopper. Hand tight is an old wives tale told by people w/o stud remover sockets, if it's hand tight it'll just back out and become loose.
  13. Nevada (001). Tampico is much more coffee colored whereas Nevada is like the Nevada desert sand. I remember seeing that 1600-2 vintage racer at a Fest West about five years ago.
  14. You don't show your email or you'd already have directions in your inbox. I found your website in the profiles so look in the replies to "Roxy Calms Down and Oils Up" Feb 18 2007 for the trick solution for getting into the trunk of late model USA 2002's w/o any damage! Once you know you'll wish it wasn't so easy! I've done it many times for customer's cars and at 2002 events. There are too many lurkers on list to risk stolen goods/cars. tjones02
