  1. Bill, You will be out running Nate and Evan (Ok then, you'll be out running Ruth) before you know it. All the best, Tim
  2. If you go the dye route, check out Leatherique. Their dyes are highly touted (I have never tried them, but know people who have). Their rejuvenating oil product is terrific as well and far superior to any conditioner I have used. If you go the re-covering route, Alan Gunn (AGLA) does terrific work. He has redone a couple of Alpina wheels for me and they are better than new. He will also do custon stitching (I used green/blue, the Alpina colors on the wheel for my B90.
  3. Todd, I sold the Agave S14 02 about a month ago to a great car guy in Miami named Andreas Martinez. He is former SCCA champion and Porsche Cup racer and is a very serious car guy. He had seen the car on the cover of the Roundel and had wanted it ever since. Great home for the car. If I ever have another, it won't be so perfect that I am afraid to drive it, track it, etc.. As I mentioned, I am not an S14 fan (in an 02). I know there are others who love them. I just think the M10 is more in character with the car.
  4. No flaming from me. I had an E30 M3 that I did the evo2 conversion on and had Korman do the roadsort suspension and a 4.45 diff. In that form, it was very entertaining. I do know what you mean. I have an E34 M5 which is chipped, but mostly stock. Very strong, but I always enjoy driving the Alpina B9 (which has 90 less hp) more. It is smaller, has no emissions stuff, Alpina headers to a triflow, a 3.73 diff and is just more visceral. You'd love it. The E34 M5 is more of an A to B car. The Alpina is definitely a smile car.
  5. Anthony, I have always admired what you did with the Inka car. Highly modified, but still in period from a tuner standpoint. I think there is a tendancy to take 02's too far and lose the character of the car. I thought that was the case in my S14 powered car, though I know there are others who think it's the right approach. For me. a tuned M10 is the ticket. I have been an M5 driver for many years and have owned at least one of every variant except the current one. I have to say, when I saw the pics of your E30, I was a bit perplexed on what the driving experience would be given the characteristics of the M5 motor. If you want more soul, try an E30 M3. They have their issues, but are unique and ever so much fun, particularly for those like yourself who have done their craftwork on a racetrack. Best, Tim Jones
  6. Would appreciate it. tljonesco@aol.com Thanks, Tim Jones
  7. The HRS Sebring event is next Fri-Sun. It is alsways a great time. There are about 25-30 Bimmerphiles camping at turn 5. It is mostly 5er and 6er guys, a great group that appreciates 02's. If any of you Fl. types are in the area, please stop by and I'll buy you a cold one. Tim Jones
  8. I used to live in Atlanta and the car was maintained by Buckhead Motor Works before I moved to Va. The guy who placed the P'tree CCA ad was selling it for his son and also had a silver tii as I recall, and lived in Buckhead. It was originally black and was that color when listed for sale some years ago.
  9. The guy I sold it to moved out of the area and I don't have any contact info for him. The guy that placed the P'tree ad was the father of the guy who bought it from him. That's why I asked if anyone knew the current owner. Shot in the dark, probably. Thanks.
  10. Bill, It's a euro ti. probably the 02 I should have never sold. The guy I sold it to hounded me to sell him the car, it wasn't being driven and I gave in. He promised to sell it back to me if he ever decided to part with it. You know how that goes, no good deed goes unpunished. I talked to the guy who had it for sale in Atlanta and was appalled with the decription he gave me. I probably should have bought it then, but had too many cars in the barn. Sure would love to find it now. My guess is that it's been parted out. Best, Tim
  11. I sold a Blk 71 in 1998 in Virginia Beach to a young Naval officer. He moved to Raleigh and sold the car there. The person who bought it took it to Atlanta and it was in the Peachtree BMWCCA classifieds a couple of years ago and was sold in Atlanta. It was a concours car when I sold it but had been driven hard and not well cared for when it showed up in Atl. When I sold it: Black exterior, small M pin stripes, Scheel-Mann seats, MM 4spd, 3.90 lsd, ac, 15" Panasports (may have been replaced with TSW's), Nardi wood wheel, Hella driving lights, Korman stg2, close ratio steering box. If anyone knows the new owner/location of the car, I would appreciate it. Thanks. Tim tljonesco@aol.com
  12. Michael, That is one beautiful car. You are definitely right to drive it. I have hesitated to drive my Alpina B9 on more than one occasion for the same reason, but am also happier when I do drive it. It seems to run a lot better when it's exercised! I am thinking how spectacular your car would look next to the B9 (in my driveway of course!) Tim Jones
  13. It didn't have a price posted and I didn't joy down the owner's phone. Sorry 'bout that. You might try inquiring over at MyE28.com to see if the guys there have more info on it. Congrats Bill!. The E28 is not an M535i, it is a Euro 525i with an M30 conversion and a dogleg box. The fellow selling it is named Alex and it has been advertised on mye28.co for a while (might have to page trough the listings). It is a very nicely done car with a bunch of really nice mods. It has great paint, needs interior work and has no AC. I was interested in the car at one point. It has a lot of potential.
  14. If you really cared what people think, you wouldn't be driving that silly little car now would you? Personally, I think we are heading into the great void where there is no expression, no individuality, no art, no wit, no debate, just sameness. So, light a candle and express yourself. I know it sucks to hear this coming from a guy, but there is an infinite list of brilliant women - scientists, artists, writers, musicans, etal, that were/are branded sluts and headcases by the people they scared. So get on with it then!
  15. I would think that if you are bringing a group to G'bo to Korman's that you might want to hook up with the 02group of NC.
  16. Depends on what you want moved (open or closed, stacked or not), it's value and how important scheduling is to you. I have used Newman and Intercity. They are both excellent but expensive (they were expensive cars). It also helps to pick a carrier that is HQ'ed in either your origin or destination city if you can. It gives you another point of contact and leverage. You should be aware that many of the carriers have a 25% fuel surcharge added to their fees. This was done at the height of the increase in fuel prices and most have not adjusted it down as prices have fallen. It is a profit center pure and simple and should be negotiated down. Good luck
  17. That was a cool event. You are doing a great job on the car. I was dissapointed that there were'nt more 02's in the coral (just yours and the one in primer). Of course I drove the Alpina B9 cause it had AC rather than drive mine so I'm not sure why I am complaining. Hope you got the wipers figured out. Congrats on finishing the car and getting your permit in sequential order.
  18. David, That was funny. I have a lot of respect for people who go to that much trouble (not my thing), but the real catch22 seems to be that if you really want to be sucessful at the highest level in concours that you really can't drive the cars. I was very impressed with one guy at O'fest in Greensboro. He had an E30 M3 that did most of the track events and then he concours prepped that car (red car, Black gentleman in his early 50's, very nice guy, don't remember his name). You gotta respect that. I remember watching Dethefson's team taking the newly restored 2002 turbo off the trailer and having 3 people working on the final detail. I remember telling Bill Williams that I could build no mental scenario where I would participate in that kind of silliness. Knocking the dirt off and parking in the "for exibition only" section is good enough for me. But that's just me. I told Richard (when I picked up the Agave S14 02) that "this very moment is the cleanest this car will ever be". I'm thinking that if you got a bubble that it would solve all your concour problems. Tim
  19. Mine has a 320i tropical radiator. Runs about 180-190. Has a thermodatically controlled aux fan that also has a manual override switch.
  20. The Touring Twins and Scott in a necktie! Sorry to have missed it. All the cars look terrific.
  21. I have had six 02's - two 73tii's (both inka), two 74's (one white with Zender flares, one Inka), both with stage 2 set ups from Korman. A black 71 ti with a load of Alpina stuff imported from Italy, and the Agave S14 powered car I have now. They were all terrific. In retrospect, the tiis seemed more civilized, but were basically stock. I loved looking at them, but they were quite slow. I enjoyed both of the Korman engined cars. The black 71 takes the cake for me. It had all the cool Alpina stuff and handled better than any 02 I have ever driven. I sold it to a young naval officer who begged me to sell the car. He sold it a year later in Raleigh and it showed up in the Atlanta club classifieds about two years ago. It had been used as an everyday driver and had been trashed. I almost bought it back, but had no room for it. It is one of my highest hopes that someone in Atlanta bought the car and restored it. It is my favorite including the Agave M2.
  22. Bimmerstrasse at Petit LeMans (RoadAtlanta) the last weekend in Sept. See www.peachtreebmwcca.org for info.
  23. The guy is listed as "the artisan". His website is www.seatkit.com and he is in South Atlanta. Has a good rep for upholstery work. Esty, if you are just looking for protective covers, look at the seat savers from BavAuto. I use them to protect the original Alpina cloth on the Recaros on My B9, and they are first rate.
  24. There is a guy in Atlanta who goes by the name "artisan" who regularly posts on mye28.com. He is supposed to be very good and experienced with all BMW's and is in your backyard. I think he is a recommended vendor on that site.
