  1. I'm in. Is there a list of hotels? Is it Watkin's Glen NY or is there a town nearby that's bigger.
  2. Just beautiful, Bill. Those boys at the Werkshop have nothing on you!
  3. Anybody doing the corral at Petit LeMans on Sept 29-30?
  4. I gave a pair away a couple of years ago because I didn't like the look. Maybe it's time for 2002faq mudflaps!
  5. For whatever it's worth, I think that is solid advice. The rarer cars will certainly be worth more going forward. I recently decided to sell my (E28) Alpina B9 because I was looking at another car. I've since decided that I would be sorry in the long run and decided to keep it. It's not likely you will own another.
  6. Thanks for posting those. I really enjoyed seeing them together.
  7. I had the ones on my Alpina B9 powdercoated. There is a guy in Utah named John Calvin who usually has Alpina wheels listed in the Roundel and on Roadfly. I bought an xtra set from him. He has the correct paint code. The 16"open lug wheels are very rare these days and are worth the cost of doing it right.
  8. Sweet! Loose the bumpers. Can't wait to see it. Every time I drive my E28, I realise how much better it is for an old dude like me. Best, Tim
  9. I think the whole thing is in Tn. The post is on Bimmerforums (southeast forum). Petite Lemans at Road Atlanta is that weekend as well.
  10. Very nice. Are you guys going to the Tn/Ga drive on Sept. 30th sponsored by the choo-choo Bimmers. I believe it starts in Chatanooga(sp). I have to be in Atl. on the 29th for work, and I think I am going. The Florida E28 bunch is going which includes a Hartge and an Alpina are driving up for it. Would be cool to see some 02's.
  11. That was a very nice car. Tripp Binford is the guy who owned it and did/had the work done. He sold it a couple of years ago for 10k, sold shortly thereafter for 14k, and you know the story after that.
  12. Looks like big fun. Are you guys planning to make the Choo Choo Bimmers drive (starts in Chatanooga) on Sept 30th? It was posted as a TN/Ga event. I have to be in Atl. on the 29th and may try to make it with the S14 2002.
  13. Randy, I only live in Va. about 4 mos of the year, but Ivor is about 15 mins or less from me when I'm there. If you get there to see your uncle, let me know. Tim
  14. My 73 Agave S14 car had no radio or gauges when I bought it. I have recently installed a Parker Performance console insert and a set of VDO vintage series gauges. There is a space for a radio/cd unit in the console. I bought a Blaupunkt Florida unit out of a wrecked Porsche and it looks pretty good (newer stuff seems out of character for the car). Question is: I don't want to cut any holes of any kind. Is there a surface mount speaker that will work on the back shelf (without cutting holes). Crutchfield recommended a Dual marine speaker which seemed ok until I realised that all marine speakers are white (needs to be black). Any ideas? I just want a radio and cd player that work w/o botching up the interior.
  15. Hi Scott, I didn't mean to stir up a hornet's nest here. Just wanted you, your team, and the event get the coverage they deserved for the top notch event V@V has become. Thanks again. Tim
  16. I understand all of the "Curse the Darkness or Light a Candle" stuff. I would be happy to write an article or do anything else that helps. Just a couple more points and then I will shut up. By comparison, SE Sharkfest got great coverage and Dan Erwin, who is an experienced contributor to the Roundel either got assigned or volunteered to write it. I think V@V is a terrific event and should have gotten better coverage (by whomever is most qualified to write the piece). Separately, I also think the demographic issues loom large with BMWCCA. If this was going to be a case study, then where is the data? It would have been really interesting to survey the attendees at V@V on some simple information: Age, location, model car entered, do you own other BMWs? member of BMWCCA?, if so, for how long, what are the benefits?, what more needs to be done from your perspective?, if not, Why not?. That could have led to some interesting analysis rather than opinion. My perspective is that the article did not do the event justice or effectively discuss the demographic issue at hand. Just my opinion. That and a dollar eighty three will get you a cup of coffee! Brad, I enjoyed your write up for the newsletter. Tim
  17. V@V is my favorite car event of the year. Scott Sturdy has done a magnificent job and is on a mission to make sure the event stays well attended, casual, and free. My hat is always off to him. I got my Roundel yesterday and flipped the pages quickly to find the V@V article. It SUCKED. It was written by (I hope I am right here) a Tarheel chapter officer who is not a vintage BMW guy - 02 or otherwise. The article made this event sound like a BMWCCA event which it is not (I think the Tarheel chapter does make a contribution) and spent more time on demographics (which the author clearly does not understand) and the role of SIG's than on the event. There was a mention that someone was from PR, but no mention of Harry and his involvement in the 02 community. There was no mention of the winners or pics of those cars, much less that Bo Black drove his car from Ar. for the event (in my opinion, that's what makes this a great event). No discussion of the more interesting cars (and there were a bunch - Alpina cars, A4 02's, s14 02's, supercharged 02, perfectly stock and original, even two 02's that were national concours/ people's choice winners). If the author wanted a framework, he could have used the coverage of SE Sharkfest, which was quite complete. The article simply didn't give Scott, his team, and the event the coverage they deserved. Typical sub-optimization by the BMWCCA in allowing someone to write an article that lacks the subject matter expertise to cover it correctly. My rant for the day. Just one man's opinion. I could be wrong. Tim Jones
  18. I emailed the seller. If I hear back, I can let you know about the location. Sounds a little fishy.
  19. Is there anyone who can give these wheels a look for me? Thanks, Tim Jones
  20. Andy, Shoot me an email tljonesco@aol.com. I don't have your contact info since you moved. Tim
  21. Damn! You people are tough. Sorry I even participated in this thread. Time for a group hug and hard on is two words.
  22. I don't care who shot who. Those are really outstanding cars. I have enjoyed seeing Bo's car at the last two V@V's and missed Keith's this year when I couldn't make Mid-Am. 02fest, but look forward to seeing it in the future. Way to go guys. Tim Jones
