  1. 2308 E. Pettigrew St., Durham NC. 27703. I have an invoice from late 1990 when they installed a set of Alpina wheels on my 1st E30 M3. I moved to London shortly thereafter and was not back in the area for a few yrs. and they had closed.
  2. I use State Farm for my non-vintage stuff and Hagerty for the old rides. I have an E30 M3, a 74 02, an Alpina B9 and a Porsche 356SC insured with them. The 02, M3, and B9 are all insured for 25k each and run about 275.00 per yr. Yhe 356 is insured for 50k and is 355.00. They require that the cars be garaged at your residence and no more than 5k/yr. I am over 50 which may make my rates a little cheaper than some of the young pups on the board.
  3. I can use the steering wheel if you want to part with it. Tljonesco@aol.com. Thanks, Tim
  4. Very nice. I have had several E28's (83 535i, 87 535is, 88 M5, B9 Alpina). They are great cars. A bit more complicated than 02's. The M30 engine will last for a very long time. You should check out www.mye28.com. The folks there (like here) are very helpful. For the leather my choice would be Leatherique. I have used all the others and it is in a class by itself. I would feed it once a week for a while, then monthly. You will be surprized what this stuff can do. You also need to keep the UV rays off that dash as they crack as badly as 02 dashes. It's easy to spend a bunch of money on these cars, so maint. is important. I don't want to cause you to have heart failure so I won't tell you how much money I spent on the Alpina in the last 4 mos. Congrats. They E28 is in my opinion, the best BMW out there for daily driving.
  5. Ray Korman has given of his time quite freely to the East Coast 02 community. His parts business is a fairly small part of what they do there. Perhaps they could do a better job with the website, but that's their business choice. It is also your choice to go elsewhere. Korman has done quite a bit of work for me over the years. Most was excellent. He is also one of the best drivers on any track (even at his age). Before you start insulting someone with Ray Korman's credentials, I would like to know a bit more about yours.
  6. Scott, You are the man. Look forward to it. Tim
  7. You are right. my mistake. I wonder how many are left.
  8. My favorite. there were only 50, all produced as factory racers, and all (I think) in this color combination. The best one I have seen is Don Dethelson's which is part of the house collection at The Werkshop (www.thewerkshop.net). He has the original engine (rebuilt and mounted on a stand as a display piece) out and is running a Korman stg2 setup. The original mills were a bit fragile and are impossible to find parts for.
  9. Beautiful. I have the same radio in my Alpina B9. Very nice unit.
  10. Don't do it Harry. I still look at the pics of those H&B's that I sold to you and wish I had them on something. Did you ever get them mounted? Tim
  11. I've used them twice from Ca. to Tampa. They are a bit high but worth it and are located in Tpa. so you have accountability with a home based carrier.
  12. Interesting. Some of the parts listed as Alpina (steering box for example) are factory parts that Alpina used but are not Alpina parts. The seat material was introduced in the early 80's I think (my B9 has it), and was used on the B6 and B9. It is NLA with the US suppliers. I bought a bolt of it in Germany last yr. that was old stock and the vendor happily kept my money and never shipped it. If the seats need upholstery work there is no matching material available. Looks like some interesting bits and pieces. I had no idea that the BBS wheels were woth that. I have a set that I'll have to have re-finished. Hopefully someone will take a look. The M emblem makes me want to puke.
  13. I've had good luck with it. Can't imagine what a biohazard mayo is when it sits in the sun!
  14. Sweet. We are leaving for Tampa in the morning. I've had my fill of cold weather. I usually leave my 02 in storage in Va. until the Spring. I drove it down to Fl in Nov. (812 mis in one day). I am looking forward to driving it this Winter. Are there enough 02's in Florida to organise a meet? Tim
  15. you will have even less to worry about! Tim
  16. Depends on the rpms you are crusing at. I'd say the Ansa is ok unless you are running a 4spd with a 3.90 or something. If you are running in the lower rpm range, you should be ok. I have a Supersprint exhaust which is no quieter than the Ansa but is better made (more expensive also) but also requires some welding. Good luck
  17. Contact me @tljones9111@aol.com. Pics and price and if you have the mounting hardware. Tim
  18. I would be careful here to speak in absolutes. Alpina did/does make a least a couple of 15" 4lug wheels. I have the 15x7's on my 74 (with Zender flares). They are E21 wheels and I doubt that they would fit a stock set-up (I also have a lot of rubber on the car 225-50 rear/205-50 front). I also had a set of 15x6's in the past and they fit my other 74(with lowering springs) but would not fit my 71 with the same basic suspension set-up. Both cars had minimally rolled fenders. Truth is, you may not know until you try.
  19. It's been a few yrs. since I've lived in Atl., but I used Buckhead Motorworks in Sandy springs for my 71 and they always did good work. I also used Harrison for a pre-purchase inspection a couple of yrs ago and was quite satisfied. Depends a lot on where you live. Don't know body shops. Good luck.
  20. Please tell me how you could replicate this car for 10k? Keep this mindset intact and perhaps 02's will never be worth anything. I, for one am tired of seeing 02's trade for less than MGs, Triumphs, ragged out Mustangs, etc.. If the 02 community thinks the cars have no worth, then they will always remain depressed in price. I personally see little virtue in spending a lot of money on anything and then telling everyone that it's worth nothing. Just makes us all look silly.
  21. That's really something. Was the M5 guy a driver? That means you are in sub 5sec 0-60 territory! Are you going to this Fantasy of Flight thing next weekend? If so, I am going to drive over to get a look. Best, Tim
  22. That's good to hear. Last time I talked with Mike he was returning it to stock stripping off all the hard to find stuff it took years to find. It was a concours level car when I sold it (too nice for a driver).
  23. Mike Houx who owns the BMW dealership in Alb (Sandia BMW) bought my Inka 73tii a while back and it is often in and about the area. Let me know if you see it.
