  1. Greg, I went with an oil press (dual sender to keep the idiot light), oil temp and volts. the face plate plastic i got from Tap Plastics and laminated it to 1/4 plywood for extra strength. +1 for egauges.com. BTW, i went with VDO vision series. I'll tell you/show you more on the 17th at Alki?? Cheers.
  2. Reminds me of when I was just a kid and working on cars with my dad. We pulled a plug from a '68 LTD and grounded it on top on the intake manifold so he could show me how the spark fired. As i watched it spark I was like a moth drawn to the candle and got my hand close to the electrode. ZAP. I can't remember if my finger hurt for two days but I seemed to remember being on the other side the garage. Sadly, that was not my last encounter with Sparky...
  3. Thanks for the update. I was wondering about the tach adapter. Good to know and provides me with good info. FWIW, I'll probably go the same route. Since my car had an a/c, I'll end up mounting underneath the glovebox, Thanks again for the all the info. Cheers.
  4. The install went without a hitch. I neatly buttoned everything up, and snuck out for a 50 mile drive shortly after. It worked perfectly. Only having a short drive though, in cold weather, I didn't really get a feel for what it's doing for me, or get to see if my fuel mileage improved. (?) I am VERY happy with the quality of the unit and the ease of wiring. And it fits perfectly in the chosen location. (I know all coils are not where mine is) I'll get it on the road in the next 2 weeks & report back. I have to get my windshield back in first. Thanks for the update. Did you go withe a petronix or crane ?
  5. Do you have an update on the install? What's the feedback on the unit? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks
  6. the 220 (.220) was a measurement for the clearance on the warm-up regulator. Wes wanted to make sure it was reset correctly after reassembly. The wire is fairly stiff and i don't recall that the tension put on it seemed to be that much (although it was a number of years ago that West did the the work).
  7. Michael. here's a picture of my pump when it came back from Wes. I have an Isky 292 anad the car was leaning out (as expected) above ~4k. Part of Wes' secret sauce is in he bend. His charge to work on the pump and install the wire was very reasonable and I highly recommend him. I removed the pump from the car and dropped it off with him when he was in Seattle. I've not had a chance to get the car back on a dyno to check the AFR across the board but Ill try and do it this year and see what the new measurements are. In the meantime I've acquired another pump and I might just have that pump re-built to match the cam...but i need the funds first... here's an old thread that Bill and I had about 2 years ago about my pump. This might help answer some questions on the wire and how it progressively engages. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.
  8. Late to post my pictures. Here's a couple of stiched photos I took before I had to leave. Beautiful day. Again, thanks again to Kevin for getting this organized. Thanks for the compliment Greg, best of luck on with the cracked head, hope you make it to V@V. Cheers
  9. And now for something different....don't forget to
  10. I'm running a 292 (Isky re-grind) in my tii with 10:1. It was running lean above 4.5k and went with the Wes Ingram lever. Now that things are "right" I like it - but it was work getting there. I have a dyno output chart somewhere that showed the lean condition (prior to the lever being installed) but I've not been back to a dyno to get a new chart with the lever. Maybe this summer.... Agree that the hunt at idle and run on is most likely due to a leakage in the system somewhere or possible some other issue Good luck.
  11. hmmmm. -New front and rear HD Bilsteins and H&R springs -try out different rear spring pads to re-level -complete interior re-do (remove old and replace insulation and carpet) -upgrade speakers and re-wire -5-speed conversion but i'm sure there will be more.
  12. Bill, are you selling your CR? i have a 5 spd OD to trade + $$$$. let me know, c dot kikawa at comcast dot net.
  13. Wes Ingram???? the alfa reference ticked my memory...
  14. did you try Ron Ager (ronsbmws at aoldotcom) or Brian Capp. Besides Group2, maybe Seattle Autosports???
  15. Try a replacement sender first. pretty cheap from the dealer or your usual parts source.
  16. Ireland is selling re-man'd (?) mechanical distirbutors. they might have springs or know of a source. Dave Redszus also re-builds distributors. I'm sure there are others.
  17. If you're still running the stock mechanical distributor, the springs may have broken, throwing the advance way off....to far advanced.
  18. Too sweet!! Those curves are soooo sexy. i just love that copper hammer for the knock offs.
  19. Sorry, won't be able to make it.... have a good one.

  21. CD probably has the visual..... the perches s came in 1, 2 or 3 dots to mark the thickness, 1 being thinnest and NLA. i think only the 2 dot is available?? Sorry, i can't remember the acutual thickness but i think each dot was a 10mm difference??
  22. Congrats Mike!! Must be a great feeling to be the original owner.
  23. Used to be in the old days that if you had a bimmer (or Porsche) a blink of the headlights would say hello. Seems like today that the drivers of the newer models just to want to make sure that you know their car is faster, can handle better (in the right hands) is more expensive, has a better audio system etc. Today i was driving the tii on the highway following the flow of traffic ~60. In my rearview mirror is see a dark M3 e46 moving up quickly that pulls in right behind me for some tailgating as if to say, "play with me". Sorry, I'm too old to race on highways with an idot who's playing with the latest toy from his overindulgent parents. Spoiled an otherwise nice drive. I drive defensively, more so in the tii. I avoid ricers. I'm now avoiding most BMWs.
