"The Stance Thread"

Hi Elias,

I'm running 195/45's on my 001's (15x7 front, 15x8 rear) - i looked into 165 but the drop required on coilovers was pretty large (as chefdog said) so I went with the 195's. They filled out the guards nicely i found but every man has a different style!

Also - are you Sydney based? I think i saw your car in a video from The Lowdown (?) meet up there?? You're no doubt aware cops love defecting anything thats low, has big wheels and a stretch tyre however mild it is!

Hey mate Ive seen your car a few times, looks great ! I love the look of your setup but was going to go a bit lower. Your stance is pretty similar to my current set up by the looks of it. Ive been researching a bit more and Im going to try and mount a tyre on them and see if they hold air (they were re furbished by another person and I dont like the look of the seal), if I need to take them apart Im going to get some bigger lips and go with a little wider tyre.

Yeah thats my car :) Ive been getting more involved in the shows around Sydney lately. Im well aware of the cops haha especially when youre driving around in a low, loud and yellow BMW !

Hello guys!

Maybe this is a wrong topic but let`s try...

8.5x16" ET 12

Going to use 205/40/16 tires + Air suspension. (Universal air aero sport front airbags + SS-5 on the rear. )

I'm trying to find the lowest position and i think it`s perfect right now. How do you think?

i was gonna rock salad shooters on my 02... kudos for doing it first (or so i've seen!) it looks really clean! do you have a build thread? i'm interested in your air ride setup.

Set it off the coasters and let us see it on the ground please! Not everyone's cup of tea but I admire the work needed to pull this off.

Todd

I can`t take it on the ground yet, but then, when i am able to, i will take some photos.

Yes, you`ve seen correct. I don`t have a build thread.. should be?

Finally put the new wheels on :)

Wheels: BBS Rs 15x6.5 et17

Tires:185/55/15

Suspention: Stock as they come. I need to roll the rear fenders if I want to lower it any more.... or drive over any bumps, for that matter. lol

Before settling:

^^ Nice. What outers did you use?

Hey cj - thanks!

Outers are 622S, inners 648S. Small-center 16" Epsilons. Same as BBS E50 20-hole barrels.

Tom

Well played Tom!

I researched the stance thread over the years when making decisions about the rebuild on my 68 2002 and wanted to report back.

68 2002

- 2 dot rear spring pads

- IE Stage I springs (all coils, front & rear)

- Bilstein HD front & rear

- 19mm swaybar front, stock rear

- 5x13 wheels - 185/70/13 tires

The stance is exactly what I was looking for:, obviously lowered but doesn't look too low in the back. Ride is more firm than stock but pleasant for general use. Handles nicely and doesn't jar your fiddly bits.
