Just decided today that I'm going to The Vintage 2023, but unfortunately only as a spectator as "Schmidt" is nowhere near roadworthy at the time w/ the front suspension work I'm doing.

Perhaps I will meet some of you there.

I’ll be there either driving my 69 (if the diff gets rebuilt and returned in time) or perhaps my e30.

Great event! I’ve attended almost every one since 2008.

Planning to driving Ludwig...or Georg Fredrich if Ludwig misbehaves at the last minute...

If you're going our way (from Dayton and points north and west) and would like to join the 2023 Vintage caravan, PM me with your e-mail address for information.  We have around 11 cars so far--the more the merrier.

Besides our Dayton starting point, we have a couple of en route join-up spots in KY--and once we get off I-75 in Corbin, a very pleasant drive through KY, TN and NC to our Asheville destination.

Cheers

I’ll be in my camper van so you’ll probably not want me in that group😂. My plan is to camp at the Hot Springs resort Thursday through Saturday nights.

All are welcome!  Make sure to try the yummy ice cream across the RR tracks in Hot Springs.

I’m going!
bringing Lloyd Braun my e12 if I’m finished with the b35 conversion.
If not I’ll bring the Orange car.

All I can think of is the PC selling competition between Lloyd and George….and the disastrous ending with Kramer’s apartment (Serenity Now🤬).

I'll be there sans car as what I've sold into "management" as R&D for my ongoing 69' project.

Also reserved a RV spot at Hot Spring Resort with my 72' airstream. Nice to bring my two hobbies together.

Really looking forward to putting faces and beers with forum handles.

Be careful with it on the stretch of I-40 just inside the NC border--and even more so if you elect to drive US 25 to Hot Springs...local equivalent of the Tail of the Dragon...

See you there.  Ludwig is a Sahara '73 with OH plates TP 114...

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
