  1. Interested in any swan neck side view mirrors and/or early silver dollar tach thanks
  2. Man those look good. Wanna sell me one! Haha kidding. Shipped mine today to 2002AD. We’ll see when I picked up my heater, I also picked up my valve that I had tested and was pissed to see a bunch of surface scratches on the inside, where they must’ve turned the valve back-and-forth to test it without any form of grease. They are barely catchable with a nail and probably not worth worrying about but still, these parts aren’t to be f*kd with. Too hard to find replacement
  3. Thanks @NMDerek right now my plan is to send off to 2002AD for either repair or replacement. replacement quoted at $300 repair would be less but can’t approximate
  4. A recore for $150? Mind sharing the shop name?
  5. Like the title says my rad shop called and said they cant source an apropriate size core to recore my heater core. This is the one rad shop that's reputable in Richmond VA. It's small enough to ship to another shop if anyone could recommend one. Otherwise perhaps I'm buying a replacement. This is from an early car so has the smaller inlet and outlet
  6. This is the same approach I'm going to experiment with next weekend. Cut a patch and tack weld in place. Then, rather than attempting to lay a bead as you might on heavier material, take the time and do many, many spot welds. Alternating edges and cooling between. For the patch material use for the rockers themselves...I was planning on taking the good parts of a trashed rear deck lid to source my material. Any concern with that? Appreciate all the safety notes as well. A wet cloth and bucket is a great idea. I plan on taking many more hours of practice before attempting to work on my actual car.
  7. My first time welding was today. I have no experience prior to today aside from countless hours of YouTube videos. I have rusty rockers so I paid for a class and even brought my own materials. This was mig using flux. I have one more class next week so if there are any pointers that are specific to 2002 sheet metal, I welcome them.
  8. If anyone has a spare silver dollar tach I'm in the market for one that's gone missing from my early cluster. Stamped with W=1.297 for my 3.64. Thanks in advance.
  9. yep, pls dm me your venmo or payal creds.
  10. I just recored my 2 core rad for - $360 Same shop has my heater core as we speak and I'm waiting on estimate of repair. I know it has at least 1 pin hole leak as I tested it myself. If he called me up and said $150 will make it good as new I'd hop right on it. My other option would to buy a replacement but even that I would want to pressure test. will follow up once i know for sure.
  11. Seems like good insurance to have a backup. Would you accept $100 shipped to Midlothian VA?
  12. Do you have a part number on this? This should be a direct replacement for my early 69 2002.
  13. Love seeing another early example rescued from the brink. Check out the technical article section where you’ll find a digital version of shop manual. I’m a sucker for the low backs. Keep’m close just in case. Welcome to a fantastic community.
  14. Looks great! What carpet supplier and color code? This looks really close to my needs. Thanks
  15. Hey Rocco - how much for the brake MC? Shipping to Virginia, 23113. Thanks!
  16. Karl - thanks for the response and helping confirm that the math works out (.02 rebore = 89.46 pistons) It also makes sense with Tech71 comment above that .03, as requested from machinist, is 89.762 and standard sizes are only .25mm-.5mm and 1mm. Never .75mm. I'd like to keep the original block even if it means going 1mm and 10:1 compression. My thought is that's a big leap from a full stock setup on only 1 dimension. To enjoy the car as a fun street driver I feel like I need to also consider my carb, cam and dizzy set up. Do you agree?
  17. No worries, wanna get this right. Machinist informing that block was previously rebored; .020 (1st over) However, tops of each piston are marked 89.46. (for 2nd over) That math doesn't work out for me. Am i missing something? When I bought the car the pistons were frozen to the cylinder walls from sitting. So yes we are looking at getting through some corrosion to a fresh surface.
  18. Ha! That was my first thought when I received his text. I didn't recall that being an option for standard oversizes in the manual. But then again you never know what people have collecting dust on their shelf So, tell me if i'm wrong but I suppose I could custom forge from Ireland Engineering or JE Pistons? Some folks seem to be happy with that. Or I found these Mahles on ebay and thought of just going with the 1mm over. Maybe dumb question but should I be concerned with 10:1 compression on a bone stock early 69 set up? We're talkin' 4 spd, single solex, OG cam, 6 bolt fly. i do have a line on some dual 40 solex carbs and maybe this is tipping point to grab those and lift the cam to 292? I’ve heard no one complain about that setup matched to that compression. Appreciate the guidance Set of 4 Piston (90.015 mm, 1.00 mm Over Size) MAHLE 0819203AM for BMW 2002tii WWW.EBAY.COM 1971 - 1974 2002tii. Set of 4 Piston (90.015 mm, 1.00 mm Over Size). (Only for cars with 121 Head).
  19. Heard from my machinist this morning and he's telling me based on mic readings of the bore I should be looking for: .030 pistons .010 rods Bathtub heads. These would be mated to 121TI head from an early 69. thanks!
  20. It's always great to see a thread/question pop up when it's coincidentally the same thread/question I was considering writing. The box and valve from my early '69 are currently on the bench disassembled. @BaaderMeinhofWagen when you took your valve to the rad shop do you know what O ring they used to swap the original square shouldered one in the valve? The condition of mine looks so good i'm tempted to leave it on but if I knew of a suitable replacement I'd throw it on there. @Mike Self I'm with you on seeing how easy it is to swap cold and hot on reinstall. Aside from lots of photos, i know my valve was closed upon removal (it was frozen) in place and i know the direction of flow (BEHR logo on top of valve). I didnt remove the temp and air flow brackets, only cables, so lever are in the same position as removal. I think that should cover it but who knows. Aside from a few cracks in the box the whole assembly looks pretty good. Blunt kit will help. Lots of good writes up on this procedure and heard we shouldn't rivet these things back together.
  21. @Mike Self I will call rad shop on monday to ask.
  22. Went with 3 core but will use my oe fan; at least for now.
