Thanks for the info, any more would be appreciated

It's been around!

Since 2015 it seems to have passed from one Dealer to another. B.C. Canada in 2015, then WA, CA, FL and now MO.

Don't know anything bad about the car, but it does seem the selling price is always somewhat over the top.

It was stated to have had a body resto in 2011 at approx 150+k miles, before that I have no clue.

It’s unlikely you’ll get anything better than @02Les’s report!

But email the VIN to BMW Group Archives and request their data to confirm the precise build date and the factory exterior color. Their email address is:

hdz.info@bmwgroup.com

RealOEM.com confirms @bergie33’s extrapolation: this should be an April 1974 example (screenshot below).

Steve

+1

The two “faux VIN” locations I’ve seen are (1.) at the left end of the horizontal panel that connects the tops of the front fascia and the radiator support, and (2.) the top edge of the short bulkhead that supports the leading edge of the rear seat bottom.

These locations are sometimes factory-stamped with 4 or 5 digits. I call them “faux VIN’s” because I have yet to see any of these numbers bearing any resemblance to their respective car’s VIN, or manufacturing date, or a part number, or anything… 🤔

But they must have — perhaps during the parts inventory or manufacturing stage — served some purpose! 😯

Steve
