  1. Stefan at GTS Classics. Super guy, super service, great reputation. He found me this particular material when NOBODY else could. German wool.
  2. Isn't there a gasket in between the fuel neck and the body? 16111106705 Gasket
  3. Do yourself a favor a warm the carpet up. I tried bringing it inside my house for a night and that was better, but not as good as leaving it on my blacktop driveway for hours in the sun. It is so much easier to install when it is very warm and the weather is too. Warm it up!!! I located all my holes by feel and then with a dental pick. Simple enough to put a razor knife in at that point. Esty liked my install pics so much she put me on the website. Nick
  4. Ah, the naivete' of youth. One of mine was stuck, I mean really stuck. So stuck, in fact, that I hooked it up to my ATV winch and tried to pull it out that way. No luck. This was one of the stupidest moves I ever made. The stuck cable never budged and me and my winch literally pulled the CAR OFF THE JACK STANDS!...almost hitting my Porsche 911 right next to it. Not only dangerous, but really, really stooooopid. I ended up measuring a new one against how much cable had already come out of the guide tubes and then held a torch to the underside of the tube hoping it would melt the rubber coating that had assumably bunched up inside. This WORKED! What a bitch of a job. Right up there with the frozen drum brake adjusters!
  5. No photo, no sale. There's a 356 parts guy on Pelican that verifies his cars/parts with a picture of him and the buyers name on a piece of paper he's holding.
  6. I've experienced similar "interested parties" on FB. I'm rather surprised you even bothered with CL. It's happened to me with almost everything I've tried to sell, from a 2002 to a $15 bicycle pump. The anonymity of a keyboard emboldens everyone, and TV shows and Youtube have taught them all to negotiate hard and lowball. The fact that they then argue with us about the value of the item is a new twist. Anonymity. I sold a golf bag on FB for $65 and arranged a public meetup. When the time came, the guy handed me 3 twentys. I told him we had agreed to $65. His response was most people would negotiate and take less. I handed the 3 twentys back and he looked at me like I was crazy. It wasn't the 5 bucks, it was point of the matter. He actually had to go back to his car to get another $5. These people are unbelievable.
  7. Looks like another $20K+ to me if you want a beauty when you're done.
  8. The problem with this is that what I consider tasteful you might consider gauche and vice versa. Anything apart from stock reduces the buyer pool little by little because most people default to thinking that the way the factory made the car was "best". I disagree with this myself, but the market has proven this time and time again with every marque I can think of for the majority of sales.
  9. You're going to lose money on the restoration. That's a well known fact. Modifications, especially the visual kind, will affect value. Minor suspension mods, like springs and shocks won't affect it much, but the marketplace likes OEM. Of course it's your car, so you should build it the way you want. Just bear in mind the further you modify, the further from top dollar you will be when it's time to sell. If you have no plans on selling, ever, then who cares?
  10. Gee, someone is a little touchy. No one brought up politics or insinuated people were crazy or whacky. Chill out bud.
  11. CT and NY Gas Taxes are 37 cents per gallon. CA is 77 cents. Subtract the 40 cent delta from CA average price of gas of $5.67 and get $5.27. CT's average price of gas is $3.61, $1.66 lower than CA if taxes were equal to CT's. You guys are getting hosed.
  12. It's $5.67 average? Fully $2 bucks more than CT's average. And I thought NY taxes were high. Guess that's one way to force electrification.
  13. $7.10 for a gallon regular gas on a CC in CA? It's $3.71 in CT, almost half. WTH?
  14. My first thought was it wasn't the holes, but the trunk lid itself in relation to the body. Have you measured the holes in relation to just the trunk lid sides?
  15. I bought a roll of cunifer with the fittings from Fed Hill in Oxford, MA. They will then "rent" you the flaring tool for free. I custom bent all the lines for the car and installed them. Cunifer is a breeze to bend with your hands and fingers. If you're nervous about it you can "rent" tube benders from Autozone or the like. The guy from Fed Hill was super helpful on the phone.
  16. Oh lord, if that's any S prior to 1974, it'll be worth every penny restoring.
  17. A teenager who has a $10K budget who wants help to buy an '02 and fix it up? Mike S? Satch? Roundel? FAQ? I expect there will be no shortage of people, local and otherwise, who would be overly generous with their time, advice and expertise to help you attain your goal. Get to know your local 2002 people and have at it. Don't buy a rusty car. Just don't. Good luck!!! Nick

  19. I recently sold my car on BaT, even though the listing says RNM, with a ton of parts I took off the car. Take a look at the picture. Of course, this was a running, driving, complete car. The parts were taking up sooooo much room in my garage, but I thought they should stay with the car since they were original to it. A BaT buyer stepped up and bought the whole shooting match. Showed up with a pickup truck and car trailer and took it all at once. I had zero interest in trying to sell the parts separately, although people were trying to cherry pick some parts off me. Good luck, Nick
  20. They sell those special gummies too? Sure sounds like it.
  21. That's a $35K car in this market. I can see how it went RNM.
  22. I used FedHill in Oxford, Mass for my Cunifer. Doubt they'll sell you only one small brake line though. I did the entire car.
  23. I wire brushed a Toyota Landcruiser oil pan once. Cleaned up nicely and leaked like a pig thereafter with pin holes everywhere. I'm willing to bet it was much thicker steel than a BMW gas tank. If you're going to tackle the job, take your time and do it right.
