Beltline trim repair or source for new pieces?

Hi All

I was wondering if anyone has had their beltline trim repaired.  I've put new trim on my car with the exception of the nose and passenger door.  Those 2 pieces have been out of stock everywhere I've looked for over 6 months and there is no clarity if or when they will be available again..  The ones I have are lightly dented, not the worst I've seen.  I sent pics to King of Trim to see if they could do anything with them, but wanted to check and see if anyone here has any experience.

Thanks

Darren

I have had excellent results with Speedway, http://www.speedwaypolishing.com

They were able to fix this so no one can tell it was crushed.

Be sure to send all your trim to polish and ceramic coat.

To adwil2002,
What did it cost to have your trim pieces polished and coated?

Was right around $800 for the 2002 waist trim restoration and coating as I recall.

What kind of shape was your trim in? Did it need much repair?

Had some dents and scratches. Looks brand new.

Data point: Driver door trim is NLA.  150+ pieces on backorder.  I found a new piece that had been produced a year or so ago -- and it was a quarter inch too long.  Stuck out past the edge of the door.  BMW Classic must be dealing with some real winners.  Don't toss your old stuff.

Darn, I complained when I had to pay $60 a piece almost 20 years ago. I wish I had bought a second set when I had the chance.

If you're not a purist, the 3M sticky-backed PVC chrome trim looks astonishingly good when carefully applied and of course is dirt cheap.  Won't help with any judging, so true restorationists please ignore, but if all you want is good looks with not dents/dings/scratches on a budget, this is really a great alternative.  I think I used the 12mm wide one which is just a tad narrower than the stock aluminum trim. Mine is even pushing 10 years old now. . .

I saw a car with the 3M applied at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix last summer.  It did look amazing.  This is for my 73tii so I want to keep it original but for my 74 I'm planning on trying the 3M approach
