I'm organizing a caravan from Dayton to depart Thurs morning for Ashville...

...

I'm planning a route taking some back roads, either from Knoxville if I-75 is repaired or heading SE further north if it's not open.  And I'm open to suggestions for a route...

Drop me an IM if you're interested in joining the caravan.

Mike:

Myself and another car from louisville plan to depart thursday morning and meet a 3rd car in lexington and take 75 down. Potential for some other RGB'ers to meet in Lexington as well. What time do you plan to hit Lexington on the way down 75 so we can all meet up?

Hi all,

Assuming I get my car back from LA in time I'm in for Vintage, leaving from Jersey City, New Jersey.  Happy to convoy with all the other NJ folks and New Englanders as long as they bring chowdah.

Totalled over 1,000 miles in my first 2 days going from San Francisco to LA where she's in the capable hands of Le Tran.

Can anyone tell me hotel plans so I can make my own?

Thanks- James

I can't tell you all how excited I am to be at Vintage this year! I plan to leave Indianapolis Thursday AM with some of the Hoosier guys and likely meet up in Louisville with the others as mentioned above....safety in numbers! I'll be bringing my Chamonix 68 2002 with 5 Speed and LSD -- last year, project delays kept the 68 at home and I took my E30.

I am planning to attend Vintage this year for the first time.

Mike,

In your last post you mentioned leaving on Thursday 05/19. Any insight of departure date from Asheville is gonna be 05/22 or 23rd ?

Well, here's my plan:

  • Fly SJU-ATL on Saturday the 14th
  • Rent a Kia or an Aveo or whatever is the cheapest
  • Drive to Winston Salem on Wednesday
  • Eat Humberto Marti's food and take over the guest room at his house
  • Grab his white '74 2002 and drive it to Asheville on Thursday
  • Have loads of fun on the weekend
  • Head back to Winston Salem on Sunday
  • Eat Humberto's food again
  • Take the pallet o' parts (there's always a pallet o' parts) to my company's Greensboro terminal on Monday and head back to Atlanta
  • Fly back to SJU on Saturday the 28th.

Can't wait!

I see there are some first timers who will attend.  As mentioned before, the weekend goes by so quickly, there isn't enough time to catch up to folks we only see once or twice a year (or hear from).   Maybe this year we can all do some valuable bench racing.

Who's bringing:

head gasket

good distributor with points and condensor

tii alternator

good IPA beer

large cooler

Slim 10mm wrench

Wire for holding up broken exhaust systems

Adjustable timing light

alternator belt

Lower control arm

Spare lug bolts

Rain gear (to thwart off the weather)

Good driving directions from the hotel for the rally that doesn't end up on a dead end road....

It's a 3 day non stop BMW party, not enough time to get enough sleep.

I'm bringing:

Vern

Car washing stuff

Car drying stuff

Tii water pump

A chair

Small cooler

A few fine Stouts

'74 cut spring set to give away

Per Jim Gerock's list

Extra lug nuts
