What Bad Decisions Are You Currently Reverting?

I am surprised no mentions (unless I missed them) of regretting cutting speaker holes in door cards.  That one in my first '02 was truly regrettable.  May I take the opportunity to suggest to newbies...please do not do it.  Mount speakers on the hood, roof, trunk, or a bumper if you have to, but not in a door card.

Are you running tweeters up high in the front?

I'm thinking about some BoB stuff- just need to get some carpet in the new car and figure out if it will ever be quiet enough to be able to hear the radio...

My ‘73’s PO was the master of bad mods. I have slowly been fixing them. For example, he used a universal motorcycle turn signal switch when the stock lever broke, and he converted it to electronic ignition using a distributor from a Mazda B2000 pick up.

I had the dark window tint removed. HATED it.

Need to get a better third brake light installed. Dorky one in place now.

Sound deadening panels on the inside of the trunk lid were removed, with great effort. Waiting for a warm day to remove the rest of the sticky residue left behind.

Prep work on a bare chassis for weeks getting ready to paint, then painting the entire car without remembering to add hardener.  Psychiatrist, "How does that make you feel?".  Me laying on the sofa, "I'm over it, I share all my mistakes with thousands of guys like me on the 2002 forum".

What was wrong with these? I am going to put some on mine soon for two reasons.

1) It provides thermal insulation rather than sound insulation. It stops condensation from forming on the trunk lid and then running down to rust out the seam on the outside.

2) I am about to install a trunk air conditioner - See No 1 above.

I waa going to go with the closed cell foam sheet with foil.  Similar to that sold by Blunt.

I used a product from NOICO. They have a foil-backed butyl product and then a closed cell foam as a top layer. I used the foil-backed sound deadening on my trunk; not the foam. Foam was used on the floors under the seats and on the trans tunnel. Much cheaper than Dynamat in the states. Not sure if it's available in Australia though.

I found the panels to be ugly and I didn't want them there. That is all.

Ha! Fair enough, beauty is in the eye of the beholder ?
