Stock "bus" Steering Wheel Wanted

Bus wheel trivia...the early roundies have slightly larger steering wheels than the later ones--I know my '73's original wheel is about an inch smaller in diameter thant the one that came on my '69...and I think the change was made with the modell 71 changeover in mid-1971.  Can anyone with a low VIN in the 257xxxx series verify this?

additional trivia:  2800CS coupes and at least some 2800 sedans came with wood-rim bus wheels--real wood too.  They have the same splines as an '02, and have hole for the 2002-style spring-loaded horn conact.  Just remove the brass ring from the wheel's back side and install the contact to use on an '02.

cheers

mike

Sport steering wheel!  That's the first time I've heard of it.

Not that I'm interested, but that $100 bid seems like a red herring.  I'll bet the bidding doesn't really start til the last hour.

Looks cool. Would be nice to have.  My guess is that it will go for $200-250.  Any more than that you could get a period correct wood wheel.

No, no, no.  Don't misunderstand.  Your bus wheel is perfect for my car.  I've wanted to have a complete "stock" package for my car for years and now I do.

Stock 165x60 tires on 5.5" rims.

Stock (full) wheel covers

Stock bus wheel.

as purchased in Calgary Alberta, Spring of 1973.

Not sure I'll ever put them on the car, but nice to have if I want to.  If a movie company ever wants to rent my car for a period piece, I'm good to go.  (not that I would especially like a bunch of grips puttin their dirty hands on my car)  Just kidding.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
