Dont think we can do the gradient. Getting a wee fancy. I think the one at the top of the page is what would work great!

The gradient and beveling is only there to make the gray look more metallic.

I still am a fan of the simpler version like what is in post #100, picture 1a.  I would also be interested in some kind of "Original Owner" add on to the badge.

Another take on this is to use the favicon from the site and somehow incorporate that. I think that would look quite good.
