Back on the road. Again.

I got my 02 back on the road... and a new camera to test out.

I snapped a few photos after work.

2 months ago the entire driver's side was smashed due to an A-hole driver in LA in a major rush to the next traffic light... so he decided to haul ass down the median, in which i was sitting idle in waiting to make a turn.

I had to replace the front fender, door, and repair the rear quarter panel and hood. Actually... the body shop did it. It was almost an exact anniversary accident from my last crash in 2010 (another a-hole LA driver, not my fault).

I learned that it is best to let the body shop do what they do best. Fix metal and paint. I ended up having to re-assemble the window/door, and fix a bunch of odds and ends that their guys didn't have the patience or knowledge to do the job right.

I need to get the car blessed or un-cursed or taken somewhere for 'bad ju-ju' removal before it happens again. Any suggestions?

Sage? Chrystals? take it to church?

Yes, it looks very nice! Congratulations!

There may be a way to expunge evil from following your car. Give the car a new name, but perform a suitable ceremony to invoke favor from the car Gods. I don't know of a suitable ceremony for renaming a car, but for renaming a watercraft, it is important to do this properly or much bad luck may befall the vessel. Here is a link to what appears to be a sufficient method for watercraft:

I think Car Gods may prefer beer to champagne, for starters. I suspect a PO may have renamed your car without following due diligence, and you should correct that error.

Looking good..again! Drivers out in the West side are always in a hurry. They will honk the sh*t out of you if you're not on the pedal when the light turns green. anyway, my wife likes to bless all my cars with a couple dashes of Hawaiian Salt around the outside and inside I'm having a beer in the house. Has worked so far.

Thanks! I can say the bike is as fun to ride as it looks.

glad to see you're back on the road. i read your unfortunate story a few months ago. I'm also loving that 73 motorcycle linked in your signature, that could be the coolest looking bike I've ever seen.

Well done, Josh.

Re: exorcising... make sure your car has a pet name, and then

every time you park it after a drive, smile and pat the top of the instrument cluster and say "good girl" or "good little (insert pet name here)".

I named her Betty within minutes of my purchase. But i am beginning to think Christine is a better name (after the Stephen King book-movie). She seems to take all sorts of beatings and comes back to life....

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
