  1. Hi, I need a floor drain cover, one of mine is rusted through. I stole the first pic from 76mintgrün'02. Thanks, Jay
  2. Boy there is always something!! Thank you for your replies. I think I will fill and move on. I would just replace it if they weren’t so darn expensive.
  3. Hi, I was in the process of rebuilding my heater valve and noticed this notch in the outer lip. It is deep. The first couple of pics are mine, the second are pulled from elsewhere on the faq’s site for reference. Just curious if anyone else experienced this. And should I just dab some JB weld, or replace? Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi, I am rebuilding my heater box and need a new fan. I know that people rebuild these, so you can buy and flip, or even sell it back to me if I haven't bought another one yet. This is out of my 1971 2002. Not really sure what to price it at, so feel free to make an offer.
  5. Thanks Chris! ! missed Danco's response, and I initially read your previous response as that you purchased replicas off of ebay. I realize mine is not a sequential plate, as if it were a number randomly assigned to me by the DMV.
  6. I appreciate all your responses. Still interested in hearing from anyone that has ordered a good replica. I have already received from the DMV in black "002 X71", so I plan on having that made in blue/gold, which will appear sequential (I realize the originals had the letters first, I'm okay with that). Thanks.
  7. Hi, I was looking to be a little more period correct for my 71 BMW, and want to order replica blue plates. Since I'm in CA, i ordered the black plates, and purposely got a custom 6 digit number so I could order a replica later. So now here I am. Has anyone ordered a blue plate from calplates.com or the maker on etsy.com? I just want them to look good, and I want the spacing for the 6 digit plate to be correct since the CA plates had a half space in the middle. And yes, i know they are intended for offroad use only.... Thanks in advance. 1969-1986 CALIFORNIA CAR LICENSE PLATE - 6x12 [cal1974] - $95.00_ Calplates.com.mhtml
  8. Do you really need a relay? A suggestion on cleanest place to tap into illumination would be appreciated too. I’m hooking up something similar in my 1971, all 70’s/80’s VDO: - clock: using hot cigarette lighter wire - volt: using switched aux wire originally used by the radio in the hazard wiring loom - oil temp: same as volt (might change this to oil pressure instead but same power source) Thanks, Jay
  9. Thank you to all that contributed input. My son helped me track down my problem, which ended up being a bad ground on the front driver side bulb. Cleaned the contacts and wired a new ground straight to the chassis. This part below ended up being part of the confusion with mine, since I was not expecting this feature/behavior: “There is a parking light feature on early cars that is designed to allow you to park on dark roads. With the ignition off, you engage the turn signal right or left and the taillight will illuminate.”
  10. Hi, I’d like to go without my console when I reinstall me carpet so am hoping to find a shift boot ring someone saved that I can weld on here. Yes, I know I could have one somehow made, or use a drain spout from Home Depot or whatever, but if someone has one already, I’d rather go that route. Thanks!
  11. Hi everyone, I tried the AutoZone relay fix and it worked great for about 5 minutes. Then I turned the car off, and the driver side taillight stays on when I turn the car off. I do think the hazard switch was replaced at some point because it looks new-ish and doesn't illuminate. Right now, with the ignition on, the passenger side blinkers work and that's it. Did I fry the relay somehow? Did I fry the switch? Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot? I stocked up on 5a fuses so I'm ready to go to work on this! Thanks in advance.
  12. I saw that thank you. I was curious if others used different or similar products, and if they are glad with the result.
  13. Hi, esty’s instructions say you dont need padding, etc, but thin sound deadening is okay, which is contrary to this article. What have people used and did you like the fit? I planned on thin sound deadening, but curious what other people did and if they had any hindsight to share.
  14. I’m interested if you still have these.
  15. Thanks Tommy, I’d never looked that close before. The reason I was down there was to do exactly what you suggested, to clean the gunk and chase down the leak. There is years of build-up, so will me taking another stab at it soon. I do have a couple of leaks up high.
  16. Am I supposed to be able to see the teeth inside my transmission from underneath? At first I thought I dumped all my oil, but now I am thinking it’s transmission fluid. Will JB Weld hold temporarily? It’s a 71, and likely the original transmission. Thanks in advance.
  17. Thanks everyone (including the relevant info about wwii airplanes). I still have more to go through, but tuning the carb was a huge step in the right direction. It was running really rich. I actually enjoyed my 1.5 hour ride home from work today, and didn’t get light-headed.
  18. Thanks guys, I should have prefaced that previous to this post, I have already replaced a few fuel-related rubber bits in the trunk and under the hood. I was trying to avoid an hour long uber ride to/from work today. A better title for the post probably would have been “Does this look like my carburetor is leaking gas?”. I’ll keep you posted. 19. My ‘71 has it, needs new springs though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Hi, hoping you guys can help me. My ‘02 has a strong gas odor when driving. I tried to mess with the carb a little by tightening the screw a full turn shown on the bottom left here, but didn’t want to go too far. I also notice it’s a little wet toward the top, is that gas? Sorry, I’m new to carbs. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. Hi there, hoping to get some guidance from the group about my differential. My mechanic was replacing the leaky seal/fluid on my differential and said that a tooth literally fell out when removing the cover. A piece about 1 inch long came off, so essentially it’s missing a tooth. My 02 is a stock 4 speed ‘71. Obviously this is an expensive repair, what are the risks of waiting? How much should I expect to pay? I’ve probably driven about 1k miles on it so far since October with no probs, but realize the present doesn’t necessarily predict the future in this case. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
