"Keying" Just makes you sick to look at

I am sorry to hear Steve, color sand and buff could take care of some, but not all. If ever around Hollister, swing by, we"ll give it a shot.

I am not sure why people do that...

Thanks, Michael. You know I don't need much of an excuse to drive 4 hours up to Hollister. But will have to be after our new Grandson is born. On Babywatch now, any day.

Maybe I can get the "Inka Fairy" to fix it for me.....She looked at it and said, "that wasn't very nice for someone to do that". A 3 1/2 year old knows more that the miscreant that did this.

Ouch. Dammit, that totally pisses me off... I can't for the life of me fathom what would make someone do that. Bitterness, jealousy, sadism, no respect.

Sorry to hear this happened, Steve. Some bastard keyed my passenger door on my 02 a few years ago - I seethed for weeks. And I once came out of a restaurant with my wife and found our new car (Subaru SVX) wrecked with heavily dented hood, roof, and trunk like several aholes had run/jumped up and down on it. Such people make you lose faith in your fellow man.

As others have said - hope it sands/buffs out OK.

Steve,

Really bummed to see your Touring was keyed.

If its original paint, its single stage paint and you may be able to minimize the key scratches with polishing.

Next time you're in OC (Aliso Viejo?), give me a shout and I'll try to help you with the polishing work.

I never understand why would someone just do this $hit to other people's cars. Cowardliness is a big factor here as I am sure if I catch someone do this to my car, I am sure I'm sticking that key up where the sun doesn't shine. Punks will never dare to do this near the car owner..

Good luck Steve, I feel your agitation man.

Someone from the local mafia/drug cartel keyed every single panel on my son's 2002 Dinan S2 M3 when he was visiting and the car was parked in our carport. Cost Gieco Ins. nearly $9,000 to have the entire car repainted. Really does a number on your stomach when you first see it.

Hope your insurance can help you out, Steve.

never will - it's one of the things that keeps me from driving the '69 when it would have to be left in a place where I can't watch it. Sorry you're having to deal with this......

Unfortunately, it's been a problem for a LONG time - years ago (late 70's) a friend was passing through the bay area in his 356 SC cabrio, and stopped to pick something up at a buddy's place in South SF - he said he was inside for about 10 minutes and came out to catch a kid (maybe 13) keying the passenger side door.

He said he tackled the kid as he started to run, pinned him to a fence and demanded to know why, and what he'd ever done for the kid to do this (he lived in Davis - 50 miles + away - and said he'd never driven the car to this friend's house, so the kid would never have even seen the car before).

All the kid had to say was "cause you're f'in stupid" - he said his friend came out and pulled him off before he could do anything to the kid (probably better that way, but it would have served the kid right to be pounded within an inch of his life). Totally radom act - he said he walked the entire block, and his car was the only one keyed.

Whenever I park in a possible area of keying, We hook up a 220volt line. When you return to the car, you my notice a smoldering burnt mass with a key attached to what was on e a hand. Justice is served and the keyer is sort of burnt out from ever doing another stupid deed.

That sucks man! Whats just as bad is when someone door dings ya hard enough to put a nice size dent in either the door, or the EXPENSIVE trim. Came out one day and saw that and about flipped...

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
