Curtis was my friend, I will miss him.

Curtis falls into that fraternity with Michel Potheau and Duke Rimmer.

I first met Curtis at Oktoberfest 2002 and saw him do many nice things for folks at that event.

Tomorrow, I will wear my Flying Lizard Motorsports shirt Curtis sent me in his memory.

May 17, 2008 at the Bay Area '02 Swap and Show...I won an SiGarage 3 core radiator in the raffle. The only time I've ever been lucky in anything like that. Curt donated it. Kind of silly, but it was a very cool moment for me that he made possible.

When I was organizing the Mid-Atlantik '02 Fests here in the East for 4 years (2000 - 2003), I remember Curt donating a radiator for one of the door prize drawings and he was listed as an event sponsor. For anyone who still has one of the Event T-Shirts "Curt Ingraham 2002 Radiators" was listed as a sponsor on the back! I'll wear those T-Shirts with pride until they wear out!

There are a few '02's driving around here in the East with those door prize radiatiors "running cool", I have no doubt! All thanks to the generosity of this wonderful man, and '02 friend to all of us.

Very sad news indeed. I only got to meet Curt once. I asked him to do some electrical work on my 02, a bunch of small but irritating issues like a non-working dome light. Anyway, he said he would only do it if I stayed the day and did the work under his guidance. I was initially taken aback by his request since I have no skill in this area which I explained to him. He insisted and I spent perhaps one of the most satisfactory days of my life with him. Learning to detect and fix electrical issues was extremely rewarding and Curt was an amazing teacher.

We talked all day about everything except 02s interestingly enough. I discovered that we both were recovering from cancer and shared similar book interests. This led to Curt sending me home with a book from his personal library and me sending one of mine to him.

A good and honest man. He is missed.

Very sad news.

I regret that I never met him, but I've heard such great things about him and his love for BMW.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

This is really sad, I'll definitely miss Curt. He was one of the first vintage BMW folks I met when I randomly showed up with my brown 3.0CS at a bay area 02 drive and I ran in to him off and on at subsequent 02 things. Such a cool dude!

This is my first post on this board, and while my words obviously don't carry the history and camaraderie that a lot of you folks carry with yours, I'd still like to wish this gentleman and his family my best wishes.

There's people in this world that are known, and there's those that are remembered. From the response and the stories I've read, it seems that he will be the latter. I hope that his life served as a fine example not only to the '02 community, but to those around him to live a better life.

RIP Curt.

Dear Curt,

You really enjoyed our family's posts from Baden-Wuerttemberg,

Germany, when we spent a year there. I am on a trip in

southwestern Germany now and am posting you this belated note.

You were a great neighbor. When we were in Germany, you and Lisa

helped looking after our house; there was not a minute that I had to worry.

Remember those ever-larger sinkholes outside my house after the first

heat wave each year? Thank you so much for taking the time to close

the water mains to our house and to walk around the house during those

emergency times when we were not home.

There was a reason why your neighbors were so comfortable with you

leading the structural inspection task in the neighborhood emergency

response team. You had a knack of all things mechanical and

structural (and electronic because of your day job). Our response

team really need an emergency plan to deal with the hole you left

behind now.

Thank you so much for alerting us to the opening of the new Porsche

Museum in Stuttgart. We were living only 30 minutes away but didn't

even know about its grand opening. My son is now a Porsche fan, and

said he'd buy me one when he grows up. Any advice on which model I

should ask for? Or perhaps I should ask for a BMW instead. Just a

few days before you left us, your eyes lit up when you were telling me

about BMW's delivery program in Munich.

You were such an observant fellow. You always seemed to know what is

happening around your surrounding. I never spotted you first on

Grizzly Peak, but you always waved at me when I drove past. By the

way, Berkeley Police ticketed all the cars parked on Grizzly Peak a

couple of weeks ago, including the car that parked at your usual spot.

Did you ever interrupt someone? You always listened to what people

had to say without cutting them off. And you were so attentive to

people's feeling. Remember our last visit to your house when G

performed a mini violin concert for you and Lisa? You must have

noticed that J wasn't so happy and that she wanted more attention,

and you asked her to play you a couple piano pieces. She wasn't

prepared, but you still closed your eyes to enjoy her (choppy)

performance. Thank you, you were such a class act.

I, like all of your neighbors, will forever miss you.

Rest in Peace.

AP

PS I am posting this note at your favorite hangout. I hope your internet friends can see how great a neighbor and a friend you were.
