  1. If there is rust in the kick panels, I'm betting that the whole rocker area is rusty also. Seems many owners start repairing a small area of rust and in the next breath you are into a 5 year resto. Is it the squarie in local craig's list? Check also the rear shock towers... The FAQ has a darn good list on what to look for 02 wise. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/content/view/80/32/ Which garage did the pre-purchase inspection? P
  2. OH!!! AC boats? In Lahaina? Wow! I've sailed on on a couple of maxis out of Cairns, OZ, that sailed in the Sydney-Hobart race. An AC boat would be a sweet addition to my sailing experiences. Will look them up. I don't consider it a good sailing day till we just about breach the hull. Sounds like you just about did that! As for the 4K$ 69, might have to give that one a pass unless he takes funny colored Canadian money! Thanks, P
  3. My Family and I are heading your way this weekend! Goodbye scraping frost off the windshield in the AM! Goodbye short days! Hello swaying palm trees and sand between my toes! Would like to meet up with any fellow 02ers if possible. Might be nice to sight see from a running 02... And if you have any tips, specially on dive sites/operators, that would be the cherry on top. Also looking to rent a long board and maybe take refresher lessons. We are staying in Kaanapali for the first 10 days starting Saturday then off to Honolulu at the Ohana Waikiki West for four days. Now if the Canadian loony would climb above 80 cents, that would make it all the better. Long range forecast looks excellent! Pierre
  4. Pat, DIYautotune has organized kits. Not sure if they have the exact one for your chevv setup but he will guide you along.
  5. The poster says he has an aluminum flywheel, so no bb to mark the spot.
  6. Sounds like someone tried the rebuild and was a piece short! Nothing like experience. Will make a note as mine is coming off next fall... thanks.
  7. If I were to weld up a wheeled frame to bolt onto a 2002 body with no engine, tranny, front and rear sub-frame, would 450# rated wheels at each corner do the trick? I'd guess the weight to be maybe 1600 to 1800#. Or do I need say 1600# rated wheels at each corner? I've seen pictures of fellow enthusiasts here do the same thing. The wheeled frame bolts onto the sub-frame points on the body. Is it easy to move the body around then? Thanks, pierre
  8. Roy, Nice project! So you "just" had a stroked S14 laying around? I must check my garage under the junk and cobwebs for a gem or two.... What rear frame/suspension setup did you use? What mods where done to fit? What diff are you using? Did you paint or coat the exhaust header? How does it drive? Thanks for the inspiration and for raising the M2 bar higher! Pierre
  9. Try these. Great vendor and very helpful with any questions. http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/delphi-lbhr-ev1-style-fuel-injector-hiz-p-271.html Everything he sells he tests. Pierre
  10. OOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUU! A Century Tel phonebook!
  11. Nick, That car has a sweet stance! Those 15s are fitting right in. Any rubbing when turning? P
  12. Yes it was good to see the 02s well represented and in fine form. I loved it when the rains affected one section of the course and not the other. The drivers all had great stories to tell afterwards. No one in BMW heraldry traded paint nor suffered any major expenses. Those cars were prepped by pros and they sure ran like it. Drivers were great to chat with also. It sure is tempting to to get out there and race with these guys. Did you get a real good look at the setups? FA, was the Colorado resto in the parking loton Saturday yours? Alp, did you pick up the one on 6th ave. in "storage"? Who had the green one on Sunday out?
  13. Mike, can you post the shots here? If not then pondhopper at shaw dot ca and thanks. Details as to which airdam would also be nice.
  14. 1 - BAD!!!!!! 2 - BAD!!!!!! 3 - Real good! Unfortunately, the positive #3 is useless unless #1 and #2 can keep it together, which looks doubtful. I'd just strip the rockers out, weld in some tubing as someone did on the board (nice pics of project with jack stand inserts too if I remember correctly)and redo the rear shock towers with new metal.
  15. Mike, No luck in the search here for the blanks BU2 nor BU1. So if you can set a couple aside, I'll get you either real money in an envelope that will cover both keys and a couple of stamps right away or if you can hold them a little, my brother is heading down to Chicago and can bring back stamps in a month or so. Thanks, pierre
  16. We make stuff here apart from maple syrup? Who knew! I'll take a look out this way with a few of the locksmiths nearby. I'll try a web search for Dominion keys also I'll report in a couple of days. Thanks, Pierre
  17. Hi Mike, Great news on the new set of blanks. I had asked to have one put aside IF you were willing to mail it to Canada. If you can, then let me know how much and payment method. 18. Have a good'ol time on the road trip Rob!
  19. SOT to the inboard brake idea but any progress on the 2.3 head?
  20. Rockauto has 'em for a '77 320i for $56.00 each corner...
  21. I must create an alter-ego so that I - sorry - he may have journalistic creds so I - sorry again- he can can visit that museum one day. That is why digital cameras and cheap memory were created. Beautiful cars all around....... Beats viagra any day, not that you guys need that stuff.
  22. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=534238 Woooow!
  23. I'm still waiting for him to call me about it also .... It is a bare shell. Zenon will get you on the list sooner than later. He is around as I saw him tooling on Arbutus yesterday or the day before.
  24. You might want to look at Central welding somewhere along I-5 between Bellingham and Seattle for really good pricing on recon models. If you are about to spend that much in labour and supplies, what about a car from Cali? And if you still want to proceed, Craig on the BC 02 site hosted by Zenon has a couple of NOS shock towers replacements he doesn't need.
  25. Hobart 140 for sure. That's what I got. Don't use flux wire. You will need a tank and shielding gas.
