  1. Looks like you and I are on the same nice and slow train! Hope you keep up the dream and build up momentum.
  2. Rotisseries rock! About those welds..... Can you see if there was enough heat to penetrate the thicker piece? it looks to me to be quite thick on top but not much discoloring which is an indicator of proper penetration. hard to say with those pics but just in case.... I would cut up some scraps of that tubing, create a good clean, chamfered and tight joint and practice my welds and inspect them from the inside to see any penetration indicators. Adjust settings and repeat till you are happy with the results. Apart from that, enjoy the rebuild! Mine has been sitting for 2 years on the rotisserie with nil progress...Sigh.....
  3. 2 suggestions 1 - MORE PICS!!!! 2 - more details on your efforts and engineering hurdles that you have encountered, testing procedures, milling etc. Super cool project
  4. That is IMPRESSIVE! I like that u show the build of the jig. Nice to see that you measured once or twice to get it square. I also like to see how you framed the car with the pieces off to keep it square. keep it up. it is a good motivator for us laggards.
  5. please tell me you plan on attending a race at Mission Raceway this summer? May just have to do a road trip South to see this beauty of design and execution. fascinating the new ideas I'm seeing. you probably added another year of fab work to my project. so now the kids will be 17 and 20 when i finish....btw, they are 3 and 6 now ; } Keep the pics and ideas coming. Cheers!
  6. From my point of view, the problem is that project is not in my garage and those super sharp looking struts are not mine. Apart from that, good save with the grinder. like the idea of adjustable links for the sway bar and the mounting pts make sense. do you have a favorite book or 2 that explains race susp. geometry and setup? happy new year! hope the morning is kind to you.
  7. I think you will find more than 1 burnt bearing in that dry tranny! What does the diff fluid level look like?
  8. Wow! Well the price was right.....For a shovel full of rust! Althought I would be scared to one day find the rear of the project on the shop floor with that Swiss cheese of an excuse for a sub frame. Be careful around it!
  9. That cover is creative, gutsy and beautiful! Kudos to Saul for taking valve cover art to a new level and to you for new boundaries! Love the build, details and write up!
  10. Maybe a bike shop will have the proper crimpers. Try both pedal and motorized! Otherwise maybe the guys that make automotive custom throttle cables ( Locar? ). Hot rod shop?
  11. A highly iconic personality of the muscle car era gurus has passed.
  12. It just clicked! Your hood opens like most cars. Nice swap. It does fit in quite nicely. Hope you don't get any speeding tickets with this beast! Keep the pics and commentary going!
  13. Toby, you being facetious about tech inspection? Did you use big washers underneath? Are you more centered to the steering wheel? Didn't Lee make some sort of bracket for just this application?
  14. When you look at the specs of a car and they state the front + rear track, does that measurement reach the outside or centre of the tires? Another thought was that it measured to the outside of the axel.... And one friend said maybe to the outside of the fenders....What is this esteemed board's opinion? TIA
  15. I like the different look! Do you notice any more whispering bomb noise?

  17. Had the same issue when I moved to Oz. i was a mess for a couple of weeks. Funnier yet was that it took me a month to get used to left hand drive when I returned 10 months later Go figure Don't ask me about turn signal stalks, headlight stalks and wiper switches. I was a danger in the roundabouts for the first while.
  18. Possible lower mounting point under the water pump so lower CG? Those GM parts are cheap and plentiful so economical swap? How did you adapt the plug?
  19. Later cars were required to have door crash bars added as a safety measure. My guess is that one door was damaged and replaced with such a later door. Love your enthusiasm and persistence. Thanks for motivating me to get out there and get metalworking!
  20. alive and well! same place in sherbrooke? will try and call tonite
  21. ...and all attachment points be at junctions/nodes. your rear bars will just push through the center roll bar.
  22. 1 medium + 1 large please in short sleeve. 1 large in long sleeve. Kool!
