  1. Haven't seen a post on the board for a while. Was wondering how you fared with the huge water runoff this last storm... P
  2. VR (36-1 wheel sensor reader) wires crossed? Did you use shielded cable?
  3. Someone asked Schnitzer Mark if he could do a mold of his Schnitzer head. Not sure what happened from that thread. It would be neat and a great engineering triumph but I can only imagine the machining that would be required after casting, all the other parts for the valve train that are needed, front covers, all of which probably would need to be machined also. Don't get me wrong but that would cool for lots of us. Specially the racers out there. But like Harv's tag line speed costs money. How fast you wanna go? I do like the Oldguy's idea of a Ford 2.3L Head (1/2 of a 4.6L motor). From his early experimentations, everything seems much cheaper for that conversion with potentially great HP gains and reliability with off the shelf parts. BTW, Oldguy, any progress? Pierre
  4. Rob, Love the idea. Nice Email also with Harv's edit. Considering the circumstances, I believe it shows deep respect, gratitude and friendship towards "Duke", his family and his hobby. If you could just sign the card on my behalf, that would be great. go for Pierre in Canada. Otherwise, I think it will take forever until we get a card out. Thanks for taking the lead and keeping us posted, Pierre
  5. I had a Campbell Hausfield 25 gal with 1hp motor 120V, 1 stage and oil. Was great for impact gun and short uses only. If I used it with cutting wheel, sander, air drill or paint guns, it went into full pump mode and it was never enough to fill the tank and keep the tools operating. I was taking 5 minute breaks to let it cool down and reload. Also pretty loud. I suggest an upright 60 gal tank with a big 220V motor at the minimum, with a 80 gal, 220V motor and 2 stage compressor being the best solution to hobby automotive use. Then think about hose sizes. 3/8" dia gives about twice the air flow as 1/4" dia hoses. Fittings are more expensive but worth it in my opinion. Then I recommend a inline air dryer and pressure reg. I was going to hard plumb my lines when my garage lease was up so never got there but that can cost a few $$$ to do right also. http://www.2002tii-restoration.org/tools/compressor.htm also covers his compressor history. P
  6. Using 77 rotors, 82' 320i hubs and 87 Volvo wagon Girling calipers. Thxs, Pierre
  7. Well then, I won't use the tranny oil cooler portion. I do have a stand alone oil cooler from an 87' Supra (2.6L i beleive) that I 'll use. Thanks for the feedback.
  8. It has built in fittings that were used to cool the auto tranny fluid. I was thinking of using those to hook up to the oil cooler through a sandwich adapter (cheaper than one off a S14) and help keep the oil cooler. Fittings are barbed so I think they can handle the pressure. thxs
  9. I know its says '77 for vented rotors in the write up. I've found a set of rotors that state "fits pre 8/77" vented and "post 9/77" vented has a different part number. Is it safe to assume the first rotors (pre 8/77) are the right ones? I'm inclined to buy them because of our muscular currency. Cheers, Pierre
  10. can you email me also please? canadapierre@shaw.ca thanks
  11. The clothe pin and cardboard line makes me cringe.. I used up plenty of classic hockey and baseball cards from my dad's days that would of been a sweet down payment.... At least I can blame it on youth. There was also a gizmo that helped gas mix with air. Sort of a plastic propeller that you put in the intake and then the hairdryer motor that was "marketed" as the electric turbo guaranteed to boost your performance!
  12. Esty, A couple of sites with drawings and good instructions. Have fun wiring away! http://www.rallylights.com/useful_info/headlamp_wiring.htm http://www.bmw2002faq.com/content/view/50/32/ And I think that Zenon's site has something on this also. I'll look soon for it. Pierre
  13. Charley, you saying that early 318i pumps are the same length as 91 318is ones? Are they both HP in-tanks?
  14. Looks like E21parts closed down 2 weeks ago... Too bad, nice trigger setup.
  15. Double Bonus Score!!! A sweet ride and a good looking girlfriend who even washes cars? You got it made! Enjoy the clutch (find a small hill and practice that for a bit), buy a Haynes manual, learn how she works and start turning wrenches. An amazing amount of knowledge, experience and wisdom is available here. A few FAQ'ers in Florida also. When I was 19, I bought a MG Midget hand painted with a roller... I've really smartened up since. Mind you, I really couldn't get dumber either...
  16. Hum..........sounds like it's not for a weekend but up to a whole month if Pedro makes it past the cart race and onto the track. Maybe a couple of part time mechs? Best of luck with finding a team and getting into the show!!! When I watched the show last year, the first hurdle was getting a sponsor. Practice/role play approaching a sponsor after researching the brand and mentioning their products at every opportunity. Then go kick some ass on the track!
  17. try http://www.bmw2002faq.com/content/view/45/33/ full parts required list and step by step instructions. Good Luck!
  18. Hummmmm. Now $25.00 at NAPA. Fraud dealership wanted $60 + tax. So NAPA it is.
  19. Lee Vuong is crewing for the '69 02 in the lead! Hope he has good stories to tell upon his return. http://odysseyms.blogspot.com/ an S14 M3 has a good blog as they race the Newfie Targa. So far an '89 M3, an early Austin Healey 100 and a few others have been wrecked... Kinda feels wrong after all that traveling, prepping and fees. But the race gets bigger every year.
  20. bmwfans.info/original/ realoem.com And try Blunt on this board. He seems to get good deals also.
