Same as many of you here; too much force plus too much fatigue equals aw shit moments. I was rushing the finish of a bumper tuck on my 74, trying to stabilize the bumper on the workstand with one hand and applying a lot of torque to the ratchet with the other while bolting the compressed shock back on. Too much wobbling led to the socket slipping off. My right fist flew across the exposed corner of the bumper end, those things are sharp. Cut the first knuckle of my index finger to the bone. On the way to the doc-in-a-box to have the gash welded back together I decided all they would do is clean the wound and tape or glue it back together. So I stopped at the drug store and bought all of the material to do the job myself. Genius me, I spent twice what the copay would have been.
