  1. Did you check the 123Ignition? Is it bluetooth or USB? I think if it has not been connected to power for a long period of time it can reset...so MAYBE the timing curves are not there and its not starting....
  2. Just got an email for W&N stating they are now stocking brand new oil pumps with sprockets for the M10 engine. I know these were getting hard to find. Im wodering should i snag one “just in case”. https://www.wallothnesch.com/en/newsletter/endlich-wieder-lieferbar-oelpumpe.html
  3. Bob Marley owned many German cars..including 2002s...
  4. This was not directed at you. I have seen this before in other threads and the first thing I think is why?? If you dont know them personally they are not friends or family. That being said there are amazing people here and i have never been scammed where I didnt get my parts. There was the one kid that tried to sell the same parts over and over again and Danco made sure everyone got refunded. I wasnt worried i sent my money normal Paypal so i would have gotten it refunded anyway but Danco made sure EVERYONE got every penny refunded.
  5. Why do people send F&F?!?! I have NEVER had someone question me about F&F and if they did I would pay the 3% more and take the hit. Its that simple. Its there for NOT paying for goods and services. Why beeak the Paypal rules for someone you dont know?!?! Pay the fee so Paypal can chase them down.
  6. Did a boneheaded thing and bend the rear section of my early rear bumper. This is the small bumper WITHOUT the rubber strip. I think its a pre 1971 bumper. W&N list a rear section for the rear with the holes for the rubber strip but not an early one. Anyone got an idea of where I can get an early one? I THINK its BMW 51121801250. Thats probably the US version...I'd actucally prefer the Euro version with the cutouts for the lights in the bumper.
  7. No changes as of yet....76's still need smog unless you are in an obscure county that doesn't require smog to renew the registration, but I still think its require to transfer registration.
  8. Also depends on how much power you want and what parts it will take to get it there. Go fastparts cost more. Could be $2500-$15000.
  9. A shot from my last trip to Northern California. Ill be headed back soon so if anyone has a cool photo location let me know!
  10. Pics are a requirement for newbies....awaiting...
  11. So for my car I was not able to go for a $5k-$10k paint job and thats what I was quoted from reputable shops. So I looked around and a lot of VW and Porsche guys were taking their cars to a place in Tijuana Mexico. There are lots of posts about the process, and its not a drop your car off and write a check type scenario. I went back to Mexico 4 times and watched the progress as well as got pics of the updates. I was very happy woh the outcome and now over 2 years later, I'm still happy with how it turned out. Is it perfect? No, but for under $2k it can't be beat. Looks like it cost me 3 times that easily. Here are a few threads to look through....
  12. And also therw are many “wide fender kits” for the 02 and are different widths. Do you mean Turbo Flares? Alpina (there are at least 3 types of Alpina flares? Rabbit arches? Box flares? Would be helpful knowing which ones you ate thinking about. Also suspension and look you want. Again. Find pics in the stance thread and ask the poster what wheel and tire conbo they use if its not listed.
  13. So its enough for a good set? How is the chrome? In good shape? If so ill take them.
  14. You got a deal!! Thanks Steve!! Its always been great talking to you!!
  15. Yup. Cant just slap a cam on the car and keep all else stock amd expect a big bump in performance. Its all a package. Cam will allow the valves to open so you can get more air and fuel in and more exhaust out for bigger bangs in the cylinders. But you wont have the intake or exhaust for bigger bangs. Higher compression pistons will also help. Also look into a lighter flywheel for better response and leas rotational mass on the engine. Then maybe an electric fan as well. You see it can add up and there is always something else. Oh and what about spark? More air and fuel would like hotter spark as well so look at the ignition system. 123Tune distributor at the least but even as far as distributorless systems as well.
  16. They are never finished. Lol. I was using mine as a daily so i did things as tbings failed or as they needed. My next one will probably be alot faster of a build because i wont be using it as a daily. By the way, Thanks for the subframe!!!
  17. Great info. Funny how it states the higher failure rates for 2000-2007 cars. My car was a 99. Boxster was a 97. I guess those years were more reliable.
  18. IMS is not as bad now from what i have read and rebuild parts for the motors are available now. For the first 10 years or so Porsche did not provide engine parts for the M96 motors. They instructed dealers to replace motors for any types of leaks so Porsche could get the motors back and tear in to them. Now there are many options out there for motor rebuilds even boring up to 4.0 liters. Google M96 rebuilds and see whats out there. I had a Boxster and a 996. Both were rock solid. The 996 did have an engine replaced uder warranty because of coolant in the oil but i sold it at 130k miles. 2nd engine had been 100k on it. Only reason i mention 996 is because he mentioned 964. You cam probably get a 996 for 10-15k and drive the hell out of it. If i were looking for a good all weather car id be looking at Audi S5 used. Audi Quattro is pretty amazing.
  19. Daily? Snow? Porsche? Forget all Air Cooled Porsches. 996 C4. Dirt cheap now and Faster, lighter, more reliable, and better handling than a 993 or 964. Why is it not loved? It has a water cooled engine and shares lights and fenders with the Boxster (at least 99-01 did). I had one for years and put 100k miles on it as my daily from Newport Beach to LA...90 miles a day. Sold it to a guy in Alaska. He wanted a fun car for all year up there. Its got the same AWD system from the Turbo (bulletproof)...and the same chassis as the GT3 (extra rigid). I had Coilovers on mine and that got rid of the understeer that people complained about with the AWD. It was a BLAST to drive and handled on rails. That car cornered faster in the wet than most cars corner in the dry. My 99 C4 Cabriolet...
  20. I started my journey with my car. I picked it up in Sausalito, Ca and drove it 500 miles home. It was the first of many journeys with the car. So many emotions are tied to this car. Its truly a part if me. Soooo many here have helped me on this journey and I am glad to call alot of you friends that I have met on the way! Thanks to everyone that here on the bmw2002faq for giving me advice, keeping me pointed un the right direction, helping me out with parts or just making me laugh!!! Looking forward to many more years with this one and maybe anither build starting in 2019. Thanks!!
  21. Cool. VR1 still has a higher zinc content. Its around 1300.
