Recommended Posts

I am planning to replace my 15" with 13". Basic requirements are:

Proper offset

able to accomodate big brake conversion in the front

15 pounds or less

Spacers ok

New or Vintage

Aluminum, steel, alloy ok

No flares required, rolled fenders ok

6 or 7 inch wide, don't care

and finally, they should be easily obtainable

thanks in advance

I'll second the Minilite recommendation. My 13x6 Borranis are et30 and the 205/60's rub the tie rods so with my experience I would recommend something like et20 to et25 to be in the "perfect" range. But take your own offset measurements for 13x6 wheels with 205/60-13 tires and they should be able to get you a set that will work perfectly.

Best part is they're not just perfectly period correct but NEW.

Gottis are of the "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" variety. prices are listed on the site that was linked.

i like those Comp. Targa wheels but the offsets are way "off" for an 02. guess you could use spacers and longer studs though.

I have a set of 13x6 Ronal turbine wheels, ET 33. Toyo 205/60's fit all around in my lowered race car, rolled fenders in the back and with spacers up front to clear big brakes. They were NOS when I bought them, I've run them with practice tires 2 or 3 sessions and that's it - excellent condition.

I'm looking at thinning my garage, email me if they sound like something you might be interested in. -KB

I like the feel better.

Ok I see . Is there a bit diffrence in the way a 13" feels to a 15 ? I got 13" because I like the way they look if I get a better handling car then this is a bonus

the difference is slight, but noticeable (sounds like a contradiction, doesn't?). The wheel size is really one of the several elements that would determine how the car would handle, but in my opinion it comes down to feel. I can make the car handle (sway bars, struts, springs, etc) but the 13"s just have the right feel. The car just "feels" more agile, tossable, the give of the tire walls is something I personally like, more vintage perhaps. It makes me feel I am really driving a 72... crazy?

I have stopped listening to people, I want my car to feel certain way, I have a very precise vision - it only took me 10 years! Probably is going to take another 10 to get there! LOL!

You could buy the 13x5.5 and 13x6.5 Alpina wheels I have sitting in my storage space collecting dust. If I decide to sell them, that is...

now: '72 Inka 2000 touring, '82 Alpina C1 2.3  & '92 M5T (daily driver)

before: a lot of old BMWs (some nice, some not so much), a few air-cooled 911s and even a water-cooled Cayman S

Are you going with a wider tire like a 205 or something smaller? I happen to like a 5.5-6" (vintage) wheel with 185/70 tires. I have a set of Cromodora CD32s that could use a good home...
